According to a new report from Wave7 Research, the iPhone 14 is not selling as well as the iPhone 12 in the US. That’s not to say it’s not selling well, though, as the sales are better than they were last year.

The iPhone 14 series is not selling as well as the iPhone 12 series

Having said that, the iPhone 14 Pro Max seems to be the best-selling iPhone 14 model in the US. The arrival of the Galaxy S23 did manage to mess up Apple’s momentum a bit, though.

The Galaxy S23’s arrival made sure that iPhone’s market share in the US declines from 69% in January to 62% in February. Compared to 2022, that’s still an improvement, as the iPhone 13 owned 59% of the US pie in February last year.

Compared to the iPhone 12 in February 2021, however, this is a decline. The iPhone 12 held 64% of the market in the US in February 2011. So, that’s a 2% difference compared to what the iPhone 14 is holding now.

We’ve mentioned that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the best-selling iPhone at the moment. It is accounting for 19% of iPhone sales in February. The iPhone 14 has an 18% share, while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus follow with 13% and 7%, respectively.

The iPhone 14 Plus is not as popular as Apple hoped it will be

The iPhone 14 Plus is still not selling nearly as well as Apple hoped it will. It does have a large display people love so much, in addition to a large battery to accompany it. Considering that poor battery life in the iPhone 12 Mini and 13 Mini was singled out as one of the main reasons why it was not selling, Apple had different expectations when it replaced the ‘Mini’ series with the iPhone 14 Plus.

Still, iPhones are the ultimate kings of the US smartphone market. Last year, iPhones held 70% of the smartphone market in the US, which is, needless to say, extremely high. So it doesn’t really matter which model is selling, as long as iPhones in general are selling. Apple is profiting either way, so… it doesn’t really matter.
