YouTube Music has been issuing updates to its UI over the past couple of months, and they all give the interface a new look. The company isn’t done, as it just pushed another update to the public. YouTube Music is rolling out a new UI for albums and playlists, according to 9To5Google.

It seems that this update was in testing for a bit before being pushed to the public. We had the new UI on a company Pixel 6 for a few weeks. If you don’t see the new UI on your phone, then you might want to check for the update.

Go to the Google Play Store and search for YouTube Music. You could also tap on App Details on the App Info screen. If you don’t see the update, then you’ll want to wait a few days.

YouTube Music brings a new UI for albums and Playlists

This new UI brings more functionality to the surface along with giving the UI a new look. Before, the ovular Play and Shuffle buttons would sit above the tracks. Above them, you’ll see the Download button, Add to playlist button, and the three-dot menu.

After the update, you’ll see a large circular Play button in the center. That button is flanked four additional buttons. On the left side, you’ll see the download button and the Add to playlist (Edit playlist if you’re in a playlist) button. On the right, you’ll see the Share button and the three-dot menu.

When you open the three-dot menu, you’ll see the typical album and playlist options. The main difference is the addition of the Shuffle button on the top. So, this new update declutters the interface and brings all of the primary options in line. It makes it easier to access the Share button, as it used to be at the top of the interface.

The only issue is that, if you typically like to put your playlists on shuffle, you’ll need to open the three-dot menu first. It’s not a big deal, but it’s just one extra tap.
