According to a new report, the iPhone 15 series may get the iPhone 14 Pro’s 48MP camera. As many of you know, the iPhone 14 Pro series debuted a new main camera last year, while the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus still rocked a 12MP unit.

The iPhone 15 series may get iPhone 14 Pro’s 48MP camera

Well, according to info from Jeff Pu of Haitong Intl Tech Research, relayed by Phone Arena, this change may happen. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are both expected to include that very same 48MP camera.

Jeff Pu did also say that we should not expect a telephoto camera or a LiDAR sensor to be included. It seems like both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will stick with main (wide) and secondary (ultrawide) cameras.

All of that information is based on “supply chain sources close to the matter”, it is said. So, chances are that the information is accurate, but we’ll see. It sure makes sense, though, so… there you have it.

The iPhone 14 Pro series still provides 12MP shots, after pixel-binning takes place. You can, however, get full 48MP RAW images, if you want, in case you plan on doing some major image editing.

All iPhone 15 handsets are expected to include a Type-C port

That’s not everything Pu said, though. He also added that the iPhone 15 series will utilize a Type-C port, finally. Apple is switching from the Lightning port mainly to get in line with the law in the EU. As most of you know, Type-C will be mandatory on smartphones starting at the end of 2024.

The iPhone 15 Pro series, on the other hand, may end up sporting a titanium frame, if some rumors are to be believed. That does seem like a bit of a stretch, but we never know.

The Apple A17 Bionic chip will be included in the package too, and both ‘Pro’ models will also utilize a Type-C port, it would seem. The entire iPhone 15 lineup is expected to launch in September this year, so we’re still far away from that launch event.
