Most other live TV streaming services have seen price increases over the past year, and now it is DIRECTV STREAM’s turn.

Starting in January 2023, DIRECTV STREAM will start at $74.99 for its base plan. That’s a $5 increase for that plan, and does make it the most expensive base plan from the live TV streaming services on the market.

Other plans are seeing increases too, but it’s not all going to be $5. Below, you’ll see the new prices for the DIRECTV STREAM and DIRECTV Now Legacy plans:

DIRECTV STREAM

  • Entertainment – $74.99 per month ($5 increase)
  • Choice – $99.99 per month ($10 increase)
  • Ultimate – $109 per month ($5 increase)
  • Premier – $154.99 per month ($5 increase)

DIRECTV NOW Legacy Plans

  • Live a Little: $84.99 a month ($5 increase)
  • Just Right: $102.99 a month ($8 increase)
  • Go Big: $114.99 a month ($10 increase)
  • Go Big Early Adopter Plan: $89.99 ($10 increase)

It’s pretty crazy to think that when DIRECTV’s streaming service first launched in 2016, plans started at $35 per month. Now they have more than doubled.

Why are DIRECTV STREAM prices going up?

As always, DIRECTV is not giving us a reason for the price increase, but with inflation, the costs of carrying channels and much more going up, this was inevitable. DIRECTV STREAM did raise prices in January 2022, but not all of the plans saw an increase.

DIRECTV STREAM did add an unlimited DVR and unlimited at-home streams as part of their plans in 2022. So you are getting more for your money now, but it’s still a bit gut-wrenching to see these price increases.

Keep in mind that DIRECTV STREAM is the only service that has almost all of the regional sports networks – that does include Bally Sports. And that is available on its “Choice” plan. However, with this new price increase, it’s actually cheaper to get YouTube TV or something else and then pay for Bally Sports Plus which is $20 per month.
