Samsung today released its November 2022 Android security patch. The company first seeded the latest security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. It has now updated the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 with this month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) as well.

Like the new foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are also first picking up the November SMR in the US. As of this writing, the update is only available to the unlocked variants with the firmware version F926U1TBS2DVJ1 and F711U1TBS3EVJ2, respectively. The carrier-locked units should join the party soon. Users in other regions will also soon receive this month’s security update.

Samsung has yet to update its security bulletin with the content of the November SMR. As usual, it should bring fixes for several dozen vulnerabilities, including some Android OS patches from Google. But, we will have to wait for the patch details to confirm what vulnerabilities have been fixed. We should have those details soon, possibly in the next few days. We will detail Samsung’s November SMR to you once available.

Meanwhile, if you’re using an unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the US, look forward to receiving the latest security update soon if you haven’t already. Users with a carrier-locked unit as well as those using the foldables in other parts of the world will also get this update in the coming days.

You will be notified about it by your phone. Alternatively, you can head over to the Software update section in your phone’s Settings app and tap on Download and install to manually check for updates.

Don’t be hopeful for any new features or improvements, though. Samsung is only seeding the latest SMR to the devices. It has saved all user-facing changes for the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update, which will arrive soon.

Samsung will update the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 with Android 13 this month

The Android 13 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 isn’t too far away now. Samsung plans to update its 2021 foldable duo to the new Android version this month. The company has been beta-testing the new software package for the phones for some time now. So the stable release may arrive at any time. Maybe after the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. It updated the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy Note 20 phones to Android 13 earlier today.
