Samsung is rolling out the September 2022 Android security patch to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US. The update comes shortly after the foldable picked up One UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12L. The latter came with the August SMR (Security Maintenance Release) stateside but the Korean firm is quick to bring the September patch as well. It’s now available for carrier-locked units. Unlocked models should also get the latest security update soon.

As of this writing, the September SMR for the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 3 is available to users on Xfinity Mobile and Comcast networks. The new firmware version for the phone is F926USQS2DVHE. The new security update will roll out to users on other carrier networks in the coming days. You aren’t getting anything apart from this month’s vulnerability fixes, though. That’s because hardly a week has passed since the phone received One UI 4.1.1 with several new features.

As far as security patches are concerned, Samsung is seeding more than 50 of them. The company patched 30-odd issues specific to its galaxy devices. These privacy and security flaws affected device components such as Video Editor, Photo Editor, Call Background Provider, System UI, and the Telecom Application. The Koren firm labeled many of those flaws as high-severity issues.

On top of this, the September SMR contains patches for over 20 Android OS vulnerabilities as well. These patches come from Google and apply to Android products from all brands. The vast majority of flaws patched by Google this month were high-severity issues too. So you would want to install the latest update on your Galaxy Z Fold 3 as soon as you can.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 gets its second update in the US within a week

As said earlier, Samsung last week released the One UI 4.1.1 update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US. So this is the second update for the foldable within a week. If you haven’t installed the previous one, you should be getting a major update now, with features like a persistent taskbar, new and improved gestures for split-screen and pop-up modes, OCR (optical character recognition) to extract text from images, improved Samsung Keyboard, and more.

As usual, this update will roll out in batches and will reach all eligible Galaxy Z Fold 3 users in the US over the next few days. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 should also soon get the September security update stateside. The clamshell foldable has already picked up One UI 4.1.1.
