Xiaomi is planning to launch more foldable smartphones this year. MIUI just confirmed that Xiaomi is actually working on another competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. So, at least one of the company’s upcoming foldables will fold like a book.

Xiaomi’s next Galaxy Z Fold 3 competitor surfaced in latest MIUI builds

This phone’s codename is ‘zizhan’, and the information was revealed by the XDA Senior Member, kacskrz. He spotted some graphical assets within the latest MIUI China builds. You can check them out in the images below.

As you can see, this device looks different than the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold. Its camera bump is a square with rounded corners. There is a display camera hole on the outer display, but one is not included on the inner (foldable) display.

Additional information claims that this phone could include the same outer display like the Xiaomi Mi 10. So, we could get a 90Hz display that measures 6.67 inches. Take that info with a grain of salt, though.

Could this be the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2? Well, yes, it could. If that ends up being the case, then it will look a bit different than its predecessor. It will still be a book-type of a foldable, though. Truth be said, this does sound promising.

It would be an evolution of the original design, with a nicer camera island, and less camera holes overall. It remains to be seen what type of a hinge will Xiaomi use, but rumors are claiming it will be smaller, while the phone’s display is said to be thinner.

Its main (120Hz) display is tipped to measure 8 inches

An 8-inch display is rumored to be included as the main panel on this device. Previous rumors claimed that both displays will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. Well, it seems like the secondary may end up offering a 90Hz refresh rate instead, but we’ll see.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is rumored to fuel the device. That is TSMC’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant, which is expected to offer better thermals, and better performance overall.

Android 12 will almost certainly come pre-installed on this device, along with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin. The device is tipped to launch in the second half of the year, but we’re still not sure when.
