DIRECTV STREAM Has Extended Its Unlimited DVR Recordings To 9 Months

Not too long ago, DIRECTV STREAM launched unlimited DVR recordings, finally matching YouTube TV – Hulu + Live TV also made this announcement around the same time.

At launch, unlimited DVR recordings were good for 3 months, and then they would disappear. But starting today, those recordings will remain on your account for 9 months. That matches the length of YouTube TV’s unlimited recordings. So you can effectively have them on your DVR forever.

This is also available for those on grandfathered plans that do not have unlimited space. Those with 20 hours of storage, will also get their storage available for 9 months.

DIRECTV STREAM has eliminated the main reason to stick with YouTube TV

The main reason for a lot of people to stick with YouTube TV was the unlimited DVR recordings. No other streaming TV service had this ability until this year. Others offered DVR, but they were limited on hours and often times costs more. With DIRECTV STREAM, that is no longer the case. With Unlimited DVR available for the price of each plan.

So why might someone switch to DIRECTV STREAM from YouTube TV? Two words. Bally Sports. You see, DIRECTV STREAM is still the only streaming service that has Bally Sports’ regional sports networks available. Now that is only available on the “Choice” plan, which is going to cost you $90/month normally (there’s currently a deal to get $10 off each plan for your first three months). That’s $15 more than what YouTube TV charges, but you’re also getting a lot more channels. As well as HBO MAX included.

It’s good to have more stiff competition out there for streaming TV services, especially since they continue to go up in price. Of course, that is no surprise, since pricing for channels and content continues to skyrocket. And that’s largely due to the amount of streaming services out there.
