Set Google Keep Reminders Faster With New Location-Based Options

Google Keep will now let users set reminders based on their location a bit more quickly, thanks to a recently reported update that adds “Home” and “Work” options to the feature.

For clarity, this is for the “Remind Me” feature in Google’s top-tier note-taking and reminders app. And that’s tucked behind a small bell icon with a plus symbol in an open Keep note. Specifically, at the lower-left-hand side of the app UI.  The icon already housed a number of quick-select options prior to this update. It allows users to rapidly set the reminder for “Later today,” “Tomorrow,” or “Next week,” for example. Those are typically set by default to a specific time in the morning or evening.

It also has options for setting a custom date and time for those who want more granular control. Or users can set reminders based on location data, with the “Choose a place” option.

Now you can quickly select work, home, or other locations for Reminders in Keep

With the change in place, the list of options presented for more rapid selection is expanded. The application — and web interface — now pull location data saved to the individual’s Google account. Specifically, as is implied, that’s location data set in the account for a workplace or home, ordinarily designated by users in the Google Maps app.

Summarily, the options for “Home” and “Work” are added alongside “Later today,” “Tomorrow,” or “Next week” options. So users can get reminders from the Google Keep note as soon as they arrive at the two locations. And all without having to scroll to the custom location option and enter an address manually.

When is this rolling out?

Now, the update to add the new menu is already rolling out and is reportedly found in version 5.20.511.03 or later. But this also appears to be a server-side update, also appearing in the web variant of Google Keep. So it should arrive sooner than later for all users. Conversely, users can head over to the Google Play Store if they’d like to check for an update to the app manually.
