The BLUBOO S3 is a big battery smartphone that we’ve reviewed a couple of months ago, and the company has just announced that a new update is out for the phone. BLUBOO has released Android 8.1 Oreo for the BLUBOO S3, though it doesn’t seem like the update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA), you’ll need to update the phone manually if you’d like to get Android 8.1 Oreo on it. BLUBOO apologizes for the inconvenience, but says that the chip is to blame, as it doesn’t support OTA updates.
BLUBOO actually shared instructions as to how you can update the BLUBOO S3, and everything you need in order to make it happen, you can find in a link that is included below this article. If you do not know exactly what you’re doing, it may be best not to go forward with the procedure, as there’s a possibility you will brick your device. That being said, backup everything before you start, even if you’ve done something like this before, just as a precaution. BLUBOO says that you should remove a microSD card out of the phone, if there’s one in there, before you start this procedure, and you will need a sufficient amount of battery before you go through with it. You will need to download a USB driver for the device, a flash tool that the company is providing, and the Android 8.1 Oreo ROM for the BLUBOO S3.
That being said, you will need a Windows machine in order to make the magic happen, so keep that in mind as well. After you download and install everything, you will need to open the aforementioned flash tool, and select the right file in order to flash it. There are several steps you’ll need to take after that, and everything should be okay after that. For those of you who do not know, the BLUBOO S3 actually comes with a dotted pattern on the back, and due to the polycarbonate materials used, the phone is not slippery.
