HMD Global has just announced a new Nokia X series smartphone in China, the Nokia X5. The Nokia X6 was introduced earlier this year, and the company is expected to introduce a global variant of that phone soon, while the Nokia X5 is a brand new addition to the lineup. The Nokia X5 is a mid-range smartphone which is made out of metal and glass, and its design is similar to the one HMD Global utilizes with the Nokia X6.

The Nokia X5 comes with a ‘chin’ below the display, while a display notch is also a part of this smartphone. Nokia’s branding sits on both the phone’s front and back sides, while you will find two vertically-aligned cameras on the back of this phone. A rear-facing fingerprint scanner is also a part of the package, while an LED flash is located on the back of the Nokia X5 as well. All the physical keys are included on the right-hand side of this phone, while the device’s display sports rounded corners. Having said that, the Nokia X5 features a 5.86-inch HD+ (1520 x 720) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. The device is fueled by the Helio P60 64-bit octa-core processor, while it comes with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable storage.

Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on this handset, while a 3,060mAh battery is also included in the package. 13-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture, PDAF) and 5-megapixel cameras are included on the back of the phone, while a single 8-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture, 80.4-degree wide-angle lens) sits on the phone’s front side. A 3.5mm headphone jack can also be found on the device, while the phone supports 4G LTE with VoLTE. Bluetooth 4.2 is included here as well, while the device offers two SIM card slots (hybrid setup). The Nokia X5 measures 149.51 x 71.98 x 8.096mm, and weighs 160 grams. The device comes in Black, White, and Blue color variants, while its 3GB and 4GB RAM variants are priced at 999 Yuan ($148) and 1,399 Yuan ($208). The phone will go on sale in China starting tomorrow, and chances are a global variant of this phone will arrive at some point in the future, though HMD Global did not confirm anything just yet.
