As promised, Xiaomi has just announced its Redmi 6 smartphones in China. The company has announced first two Redmi 6 phones, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, its new budget offerings. Both of those smartphones are made out of metal, and they’re actually completely identical in terms of the design (save for the fact the Redmi 6 comes with two cameras on the back, compared to Redmi 6A’s single camera), the difference lies in their specifications. The Xiaomi Redmi 6 and 6A both feature a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and a dual camera setup on the back. Both devices also have rather thin bezels, especially for budget phones, but those bezels are not as thin as on the company’s more expensive offerings, of course. All the physical keys are located on the right-hand side of the Redmi 6 and 6A, while a SIM card tray can be accessed from the left.

Let’s kick things off with the more powerful of the two Redmi 6 phones, the Redmi 6. The Xiaomi Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it, while the phone is fueled by the Helio P22 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz. This is a 12nm processor which comes with the PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The phone includes 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of storage, and it offers microSD card expansion up to 128GB. Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Redmi 6, along with MIUI 9, while the phone offers two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM). 12-megapixel (1.25um pixel size) and 5-megapixel cameras are located on the back of the Redmi 6, while a 5-megapixel camera sits on the front side of the device. A 3,000mAh battery is included in the package as well, while an IR blaster sits on top of the Redmi 6. Bluetooth 5 is also a part of the package, while the phone weighs 147.46 x 71.49 x 8.3mm, and weighs 146 grams.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A, on the other hand, sports a 5.45-inch HD+ display, same as the Redmi 6, but it is fueled by the Helio A22 64-bit quad-core processor, which is inferior to the Helio P22. The Redmi 6A sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, while it comes with the same software package as the Redmi 6. A 13-megapixel camera sits on the back of the Redmi 6A, while a 5-megapixel camera is included on the phones front side. A 3,000mAh battery is a part of the package as well, while the Redmi 6A comes with Bluetooth 4.2. The Redmi 6A has the same dimensions as the Redmi 6, while it weighs the same as well.

Both the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A come in Blue, Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold color variants, while they will go on sale on June 15 in China. The Redmi 6 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at 799 Yuan ($125), while the 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of storage costs 999 Yuan ($156). The Redmi 6A, on the other hand, is priced at 599 Yuan ($94). Both of these devices will become available outside of China, but we still do not know when exactly.
