Motorola is now pushing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to Moto X Pure Edition users in the U.S. and it seems that it’s rolling out to all users who have this phone within the country, meaning you should either have an alert in your status bar that tells you the update is available for download and installation, or you should be able to manually check for the update and download it for installation. In either case the end result is the same and that end result is that users are finally being bumped up from Marshmallow to Nougat, although it might feel a tad late since Android 8.0 Oreo has already started hitting devices and Google is on the cusp of pushing out Android 8.1 to Pixel and Nexus devices.

The update seems to have started for users as of yesterday, later in the day, but as of early this morning it’s now rolling out to all users. Even though Motorola has been slow to push the Nougat update to the Moto X Pure Edition users in the U.S., it has been pretty quick about sending updates to all users of a specific device once the update had begun hitting devices for some, and that has been the case here too.

Users who began reporting about the update hitting their devices were quick to point out that this is the first update that Motorola has sent out to users as of September 2016, so that means it’s been over a year since a new software update was pushed out to users of this device, which is not typically the time frame that it takes for Motorola to send out an update that was initially confirmed to be on the way. In any case, the software is now on its way out and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see all Moto X Pure Edition in the U.S. users on Android 7.0 Nougat before the end of the week, though there are no guarantees that it won’t take longer than that. There’s still no word about an Oreo update so anyone hoping to get their hands on the latest Android software will simply have to keep waiting until that time comes, should it come in the first place.
