The Huawei Mate 9 has started receiving a new update (B167) in the US, and this update seems to fix Google Voice issues. The update carries a build number of MHA-L29C567B167, and it should be available to US Huawei Mate 9 units already, if not, it will be soon. Now, the biggest fix this update brings is related to Google Voice, as users were unable to use Google Voice with a SIM card of a specific carrier. In any case, this is not an issue any longer it seems, which are great news for those of you who are using Google Voice on the Huawei Mate 9.
Now, in addition to fixing this Google Voice issue, this update also optimized the drawer home screen display, and Huawei has also added some features related to group messaging it seems. You will get a notification once this update is available for your device, though you can always manually check through settings. Now, those of you who are not willing to wait for the update to come OTA (over-the-air), you can manually download it. If you open up the source link down below, you’ll notice three download files, you need to download all of those to your device in order to install the B167 update. All you have to do is download them to Huawei’s Mate 9’s internal storage, now they all need to be in the ‘HWFF’ folder, so do keep that in mind in case you need to move them once they’re downloaded. The phone will automatically detect the update once you put those files there, at least it should.
The Huawei Mate 9 is, as many of you know by now, one of Huawei’s flagships. It was the most powerful smartphone until Huawei introduced the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus a couple of days ago.
