Sometimes with so much talk about smartphone and smartwatches we can forget about the other portable devices like tablets. That said, there is a whole bunch of tablets already available and all varying in price points. If you want a great tablet then you can grab one of the Samsung offerings or the newly announced News 9. Likewise, if you want the cheapest of the cheap then there about a zillion companies offering cheap tablets. That said, they are not always the best functioning options. But they are cheap, right. Well, it looks like Lenovo is planning on bridging the gap between cheap and functional as they have announced the launch of two new budget devices. To cut straight to the chase, these two tablets start from $99 making them quite affordable units.

In spite of their cheap price they actually sound like they might be half decent offerings. The Two tablets are going by the TAB 2 series branding are come under the A7-10 and A7-30 model numbers. Now, both tablets are pretty much the same tablet. Especially in looks. Both tablets adopt the same size, display, resolution and general feel. In fact, the only notable difference between the two is that the “bigger brother” of the two the A7-30 offers 3G calling. Other than that the specs of the two devices consist of 7″ IPS displays with a 1024 x 600 (170 ppi) resolution. Inside, there is a couple of difference although minimal ones. The A7-10 comes with a MediaTek MT8127 processor (clocking at 1.3GHz) while the A7-30 comes with a MediaTek MT 8382 processor. In terms of memory, both devices offer 1GB while the A7-10 comes with 8GB and the A7-30 comes with 16GB. Lastly, the operating system running on both the tablets is Android 4.4 (KitKat) which is not bad at all considering the price.

If these are sounding like value for money then remember they start from $99. That means the A7-10 is the one up for $99. If you want the added benefit of 3G calling while on the go then the A7-30 will cost $129 and will be available in a choice of four colors (Aqua Blue, Cotton Candy, Pearl White or Ebony Black). So both units are probably worth a look. In terms of when, the A7-10 should be on sale this month with the A7-30 following soon. So what do you think? Worth $100?
