ZTE is playing the price war, and it seems like it’s winning right now.  Earlier this year in China we saw the ZTE V5 Redbull launch with mostly high end specs and features at an entry-level price of between $110 and $135 depending on which model you purchase, which practically makes no sense at all.  Now ZTE is launching a slightly different version of that phone, just called the ZTE V5, on the shores of India for the same kind of absolutely ludicrous price at RS 10999 (around $180).  Likely the slight rise in price is caused by just selling outside of mainland China where the device is manufactured, but given how little the change in price is for such a high quality device it’s hard to pass it up at all.

Just what are we looking at here?  For starters ZTE packed in a 5-inch 720p display onto the V5, and covered it with the incredibly strong and resilient Dragontrail glass from Japanese company Asahi Glass Co.  This ensures your phone is going to stay in good condition for a long time, even under some extreme pressures as their testing has shown.  On the back of the phone we find a 13 MP camera powered by a Sony Exmor RS sensor with f/2.2.  ZTE even included a 5-element lens to help minimize distortion that usually comes with mobile photography, and also put a blue glass composite filter on the front of the lens to help keep the spectrum of light to what the human eye sees, attempting to give the ZTE V5 some truly excellent photography skills.  Selfies are also important here, as the 5 MP front-facing camera has an 88 degree viewing angle to ensure all your friends fit into the shot.

Inside you’ll find a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 Quad-Core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage with up to 32GB microSD support, and Dual SIM support as well.  Android 4.4 KitKat powers the whole experience, ensuring that 1GB of RAM doesn’t feel like a tiny amount compared to some of the more expensive phones out there.  3G HSPA+ radios will keep your mobile internet experience pleasant, and Bluetooth 4.0 will make sure all those accessories out there don’t suck down that 2,400 mAh battery too quickly either.  You can find the phone in stock at Snapdeal and a couple of other places, so if you’re in India and are looking to get a rich experience for a cheap price, check out the ZTE V5!
