LG has released some revolutionary, game-changing device in its recent history, like the G Flex last spring with its curved body and display panel and the G3, with the United States’ first native QuadHD display. But there are always little players, the non-flagships, for the people that see those big-deal phones and wonder why you need so much. The folks at LG have done a great job of catering to the middle and lower-range devices in their ranks as well lately.
The device family under LG marketed as the L## phones are the company’s lower-end phones, and they’re perfect for the people that don’t need the best fastest, most powerful, or most pricey phone to let them call, text, browse and search while on the go. In February, LG released the L40, L70, and L90, followed lately by the L65, and we see today some news from LG’s Russian site, showing off a new L## device, the L60.
The L60 is nothing special by looks; it has a black or white housing, front and back camera, back flash, back-home-recents-menu softkeys below the screen, and a back loudspeaker. It has what you need for a smartphone, and it’s quite nice looking, for a lower-end device. The display is a manageable 4.3 inches diagonal with a 480 by 800 resolution. The little guy runs Android 4.4.2, Kit Kat, right out of the box, and makes that work nicely with a dual-core, 1.3 Ghz processor aided by 512 MB of RAM, allowing access to 4 GB of internal storage.
The nice things begin now, especially for a lower-end device like the L60. It will have the usual array of sensors and connectivity (no 4G though) but features a few things that people might like to know about. First, it’s a dual-SIM phone, so you can have two SIM cards inserted at once and switch between. Next, there’s the KnockOn feature from the minds at LG, so you don’t have to ap more than the screen to wake and sleep your phone. Also, in conjunction with KnockOn, there is obviously KnockCode, and therefore Guest Mode, where different patterns of taps in a 2 by 2 grid offer access to either the main or a guest profile on the phone. That definitely makes this a nifty little device.
What we don’t know yet is the price, in Rubles or any other currency for that matter. But, seeing as the L## line of phones from LG have historically been mid and lower-end devices, this will likely follow that trend with an affordable price to match the specifications. Go check this little guy out if you want to see what a nice budget, and feature, friendly device can look like. Also worth saying is that no official announcement from LG has been seen or heard of regarding the L60, so this might be essentially it.
