ASUS just announced on Facebook that two of their older devices – the PadFone Infinity (Model A80) and the Fonepad Note 6 (ME560CG) are next in line to receive a little Android 4.4 KitKat loving.  As usual, the update will include ASUS ZenUI and for the PadFone Infinity, some of the applications are not compatible with 4.4 KitKat and will be removed or renamed once the upgrade is complete.  The apps that will be removed are Buddybuzz, Car Home, Watch Calendar, My Library, My Bit cast, Pinpal, ASUS Sync, AO Link, ASUS Echo, Birthday Reminder, Mode Manager, System Bar Lock, Device Tracker, Floating App and Quick Tool – that is quite a few!  Changed will be the ASUS Studio that will be renamed to Gallery, ASUS To Do will be renamed to Do It Later, Black List will be integrated into the Contacts, and App Locker will integrate with Launcher. The update to the Fonepad Note 6 will also experience the program changes as Android 4.4 KitKat just does not support some of them, however the update will improve modem stability.

The updates are quite a large file so make sure you have a good Wi-Fi connection – the Padfone Infinity is 1GB and the Fonepad Note 6 is even larger at 1.15GB.  If you have not yet received your notification for your upgrade, these are usually done on a roll out basis, so you should be receiving it soon.

The PadFone Infinity is both a 5-inch Full HD LTE phone and a 10.1 Full HD LTE tablet all in one.  It has a sleek aluminum alloy body with brushed metal and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 2GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage.  It comes with a 13MP f/2.0 camera and utilizes a 2400mAh battery in the phone and a 5000mAh battery in the tablet base.

The Fonepad Note 6 has a 6-inch Full HD Super IPS+ display with an Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage.  It has an 8MP main camera with autofocus and a 1.2MP front-facing camera (FFC) for video chatting or selfies.  It also offers stereo speakers with SonicMaster technology.
