It’s that time of the month. Time for us to figure out which version of Android the masses are still using. While most of us are probably on KitKat, whether it be officially or via a custom ROM. But it looks like Jelly Bean is holding on to over 50% of current Android devices. Remember that the data collected in the graph above is from a 7-day period ending on December 2nd, 2014. As always, versions with under 0.1% distribution are not shown.

Right now we’re looking at about 1.6% of users still on Froyo, with 24.1% on Gingerbread. It’s still pretty surprising to see so many users on Gingerbread, being that it’s close to 3 years old now. Surprisingly, Honeycomb is still holding on with 0.1%, which is probably due to the Google TV’s that have yet to be updated. Following Honeycomb is Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich which is sitting at 18.6%. The breakdown for the three versions of Jelly Bean isn’t real surprising though. 37.4% for Android 4.1, 12.9% for Android 4.2, and 4.2% for Android 4.3. I’m really not surprised to see only 4.2% on Android 4.3 as it was only released in July, and now most Nexus devices and Google Play Editions are running Android 4.4.

Finally, we see that Android 4.4 KitKat is sitting at 1.1%. Which is very small, but then again it did only start rolling out a couple weeks ago. But it is available for the Moto X, HTC One Google Play Edition, Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, and the Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10. But usually the Nexus family doesn’t sell a whole lot anyways. So definitely not surprising.

This leads us to wonder, what version of Android are you running on your Android devices? Most of our staff is on KitKat, due to us being such big Nexus fans, although a few of our staff members do have Galaxy Note 3’s, so some are still on Jelly Bean. Let us know in the comments below what version of Android you’re running.
