If you're a returning player all you need to know is this:
Outside of a few glitches/exploits the remake is faithful to the original unless improving on the original. It is what a remake should be.

For anyone not returning from the og version:
Learning how to play this game is simple, but there are challenges. The most unreasonable challenges are optional however. Ultimately unless button press timing makes you want to chew your controller in half and rage-kick the game to the moon, you'll enjoy tf outta it. And for those you can't help but rage at button timing STAY AWAY OR SUFFER

Attacks, defense, and some puzzles are all a bust with poor button timing.

5,0 z 5 gwiazdek A Timeless Classic - Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Opinia napisana w Wielkiej Brytanii dnia 27 czerwca 2024
Having recently revisited Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, I am reminded why this game is considered one of the best in the RPG genre (similarly to Mario RPG - if you haven’t played you need to buy this as well). Here’s my detailed review for Paper Mario though:

What I Like:
- Engaging Storyline: The game features a charming and captivating storyline that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The quest to uncover the secrets of the Thousand-Year Door is filled with humor, twists, and memorable characters.
- Unique Visual Style: The paper-themed art style is both unique and visually appealing. The blend of 2D characters in a 3D world creates a whimsical and immersive experience.
- Turn-Based Combat: The turn-based combat system is both strategic and fun. The action commands add a layer of interactivity that keeps battles engaging and rewarding.
- Character Development: Mario is joined by a variety of interesting companions, each with their own abilities and backstories. The interactions and development of these characters add depth to the gameplay.
- Puzzles and Exploration: The game balances combat with exploration and puzzle-solving. The paper mechanics, like turning into a plane or boat, are cleverly integrated into the puzzles and world navigation.
- Humor and Writing: The witty writing and humorous dialogue are standout features. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it enjoyable for players of all ages.

What I Dislike:
- Backtracking: There are moments in the game where backtracking is required, which can sometimes feel repetitive. However, this is a minor gripe considering the overall quality of the game.
- Difficulty Spikes: Some battles and puzzles can be unexpectedly challenging. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it can be frustrating for less experienced players.

Value for Money:
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door offers tremendous value for money. Its lengthy campaign, engaging gameplay, and replayability ensure you get hours of entertainment. Despite being an older title, it holds up remarkably well and is a must-have for any RPG fan.

Conclusion:
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a timeless classic that excels in storytelling, gameplay, and visual design. Its unique charm and engaging mechanics make it a standout title in the RPG genre. Despite minor issues with backtracking and occasional difficulty spikes, the game’s overall experience is nothing short of fantastic.

The package was managed well and came without any hitches. The game itself provides an amazing experience that is worth it for anyone who is into RPGs or people that are fans of Mario games in general. The story is also a particular highlight of this one, as well as the charming characters and game mechanics.

I think this is the UK version (hence why it's so cheap), but idk the differences yet so I'm fine saving a few bucks. I haven't seen "bruv" or "innit" in the dialogue yet after 2 chapters. Game is great so far, they added new useful characters and badges and all sorta of stuff (new animations for old characters, updated stuff to fix "annoying" stuff in the original version, etc). Looks like they used some art style/game mechanics from Origami King in this, which isn't a complaint since it looks good and everything, just something I noticed is different from the original.
