I was nervous about purchasing this phone based on the reviews but I've been using it for about 2 wks now and haven't had any issues. However, I use my phone for basic things such as watching YouTube, texting, calls and social media. The picture quality for thr camera is great. It shows every detail on my face and is a great improvement from my previous oneplus 6. Phone has great battery life works fine and lasts a long while. And most importantly the battery doesn't heat up when I charge or use it. I don't use face recognition or finger print so I can't speak on that. I think if you're simple and only need it for basic things then this phone will work fine for you.

Forced to leave S4 to S22

I chose the S22 because of the size. Photo quality was also important. Because of the size, the battery does not last very long. Definitely having to charge everyday and I'm not using the phone all that much. I'm trying to prime the battery, so I let it go until it dies on it's own. The fast charge setting allows me to charge in 1 hour (instead of 5+ hours). Photo quality and screen display are super!!! Color - Pink Gold, it is more of a Champaign color. With the shiny clear case I purchased, it is even lighter. I regret not going with the Burgundy.

Update: I have owned the phone for almost 2 years. The battery will hold the charge for 3 days if I use it for calls, texts and occasional video stream. If I watch hours of videos, then I am charging everyday. As often as I can, I let the phone go to zero or 1% battery life before I charge and I am careful not to overcharge. I set the timer application on the phone itself. When the phone is on, it will indicate how much time until the battery is full. I usually reduce timer by 7 minutes because with my "fast charger cord" it usually is at 100% a bit earlier than what the phone initially shows. Takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes from zero to full charge.

I've had Samsungs in the past and always had good performance from them. This one is no exception. Wicked fast and great battery life. Going from an S7 to a S22 I can really tell the difference.
Update: After the Sep software update it stopped getting or sending texts. I have another one just like it with a different number and it works fine. Samsung support is worthless, they tell you to reset it back to factory reset. All that does is wipe out all your info.
Used to be a good company, this is terrible I am thinking of going over to Apple

I bought this after my S21 died and I'm happy with it. The battery life is about the only thing I see complaints online about but for me it's not an issue at all. I don't use my phone constantly all day and if you don't either you won't notice it. I lose maybe 30% during an 8 hour shift at work and that's with using it for music during my 10-15 minute commute, plus a total of 1 hour during my breaks (I usually game during my 30 min lunch break too.)

I really recommend this phone, it's priced basically the same as the s21 and will have an extra year of updates over the s21.

I bought this phone brand new from Amazon.com, (the actual 1st party seller) and I read all the reviews that were out at the time, and I saw all the reviews about the battery life and I was like "it'll probably be fine" but no, it's not. It is soo horrible I genuinely cannot believe Samsung would release this phone. The snapdragon 8 gen 1 is literally the slowest chip I've ever seen in a phone. I genuinely consider this a downgrade from my Google Pixel 4a, which is quite sad to say. I'm a senior in high school, so I'm a very aggressive battery hog, usually using over 6 hours of screentime a day, but with my pixel 4a,I would get in my car after school (consider I have a half day since I'm a senior) with about 10-20% bettery left, but with my S22, I would get in my car with my phone either completely dead, or below 5%. This is really sad given that this phone is supposedly the latest and greatest from Samsung. I have always used Google Pixel phones and I have always loved and hated them back and forth, but this phone, the only thing I can live with it is the 5g, is it soo fast it's incredible everytime that I use it, but it's a double edged sword because I noticed the 5G drained the battery about 10% an hour. So I barely ever use it because it is soo not worth killing my phone over and over again. With my Pixel 4a, I only killed it about 5 times in the 6 months that I used it for. But with this phone, I've had it for about a week and I have killed it every single day this week. It is really sad to see Samsung go soo downhill. I'm sure most of my issues are Qualcomm's fault and Samsung is just a victim to it, but it's still really sad that a $800 phone cannot last 12 hours. That's it, that's my Ted talk. Peace out. I would recommend a pixel if you were looking at this phone. Have a good day if you read all this ❤️
