First off, I love the aesthetics and build quality. This is a gaming laptop, but the design is minimalist and understated, which is great if you want to use it in public and not look like an edgy teen. The chassis feels sturdy, unlike the cheap plastic that a lot of gaming laptops opt for. The keyboard is super comfortable. The keys are nice and bouncy without too much wiggle and flimsiness that I've come to expect from laptops. I love that it has a full numpad too.

The specs are fantastic too. Sure, it's a 4080 and not a 4090, but honestly, I'm more interested in playing graphically demanding games than knowing that the GPU is the absolute latest make and model. It performs great, and that's what matters. The Gen 13 i9 processor is a powerhouse as well. The laptop can be over/underclocked and over/undervolted, though I haven't yet been brave enough to try it out. The stock configuration has been good enough already.

One thing I really love about this machine is the quality of the speakers. Gaming laptops almost always skimp on speakers, but that's not the case here. I get deep, rich lows and crisp highs. One thing I did have to do was uninstall Nahimic, which comes preloaded, and install Peace to get the audio just right.

A couple of downsides: this thing is really power-hungry and gets hot. 330 watts is nuts, though I assume that it's because of the 4000 series GPU. The cooling is efficient, but the air exhaust comes out the sides as well as the back. That means that if you're not managing thermals properly, your hand will get baked by extremely hot air while using a mouse. A cooling pad will prop up the laptop enough to keep your hand out of the line of fire, and it'll provide additional cooling to keep the overall temp down. A cooling pad really is unavoidable for this machine. Another downside is the battery life. I get like an hour and a half, two hours tops with this laptop. Yes, gaming laptops are meant to be used while plugged in. But it'd be nice to have the option to do some undemanding work on the laptop while unplugged.

Overall, it's a solid laptop. I don't regret getting it.

Loving this machine even more than I thought I could. First time buying a Lenovo and it's blowing me away all the time. Eating all the games I throw at it without a sweat at highest settings I can set. Never has given me any worries or uneasy moments running at full tilt. No BSOD or sudden issues at all gaming for hours. Highly recommend having an extenal cooling station underneath because it gets hot and it will definitely help! Couldn't beat the specs with any other company price wise so they won me over and I am telling everyone how awesome it is.

    The good:
The i9 processor is a solid workhorse, plenty of performance. The RTX4080 also solid and well performing *for a mobile version.* You will not get Desktop 4080 performance. The cooling isn't there, everything needs to be throttled - but it's great for a laptop. Display is bright, matte which I love, okay viewing from angles. It does dim quickly any more than about 15 degrees. The picture is stunning dead on, and okay at the reasonable expected viewing angles. The 10-key keypad is a must for 3D modeling, CAD, and some keyboard-centric games. The RGB keyboard lighting is amazing, but frankly distracting so I just have it on a solid single color.
The Fn key quick power / lighting controls are actually very handy to adjust your experience quickly on the fly without opening apps.

    The bad:
It came with a WD Green SSD, which while power efficient is slow. Not good for gaming (or any other intensive tasks.) I replaced it with a Samsung 990Pro and made the WD my second.
It also came with Windows Home. As I use this also for business and have it joined to Azure AD, I need Pro. While you can upgrade Home to Pro, you can NOT fresh install as Pro and join to AD (Setup for Work or School) as the digital upgrade license which is tied to a PERSONAL account can NOT be activated during setup. Microsoft needs to get their s**t together, the details are NOT clearl. In order to properly setup a machine with Pro, you MUST (confirmed by Microsoft) purchase a full new Windows Pro license to be legal. This isn't ethical, but it's Microsoft, so expected.
That basically means that systems with Home are "damaged goods" as the license must be replaced. Boo Lenovo for cheaping out on the extra $20 pro would have cost you that now cost me $300. Don't EVER put Home on any higher end product. That should be reserved for your Walmart level budget models.

The memory is also slow - again power and heat efficient, but the machine already gets hot enough that I'm going to live with it.

Really needs another USB-C port, and move thunderbolt to the BACK instead of the side.

Had to drop two stars, one for Home mess (cost me HOURS with support,) the second for all the other niggling issues that keep this from being a Great laptop. But it's an okay laptop.

If you know what you're doing and you know what you want, the Lenovo Legion 7i Pro is truly remarkable. Make sure you look up how to properly check and utilize the power this little beast wields (be prepared for the fan noise, the heat it generates, and to research undervolting and power management).

The RAM that came pre-installed was not what this model (Gen 8) is supposed to come with. After very carefully opening the laptop, I found the RAM was only 4800 Mhz DDR5 (A-DATA brand) and the stock 2 TB SSD was a slower (still decent) Intel drive. For people afraid to open up the laptop, you might be disappointed by these parts' performance. If you're not worried about this and can follow easy DIY YouTube tutorials, you can open this thing up and add a faster, larger SSD in the secondary slot (I put a 4TB WD SN850X SSD in there) and replace the slower RAM with whichever brand you prefer.

I would absolutely rate this 5 stars if it wasn't for the isse with these parts. Even for this price, I'd expect gaming caliber RAM and SSD brands to be used in a laptop close to 3k USD. Not eveyrone is going to open up the unit and replace parts nor should they expect to.
