Got this to replace a Ryzen 9 3900 XT and it is leaps and bounds ahead. Super fast and efficient and it is worth every penny.

For games it is really fast, and if you couple it with a good card (I tried both Radeon cards and Nvidia cards), you get way more than the integrated GPU.
For professional work it is also great; I do 3d modeling and simulations and it is really fast overall.

Used almost exclusively for family gaming, even though the 7800X3D would have been a more optimal gaming choice, I needed to have the option for more cores available to do actual workloads and the difference in gaming was pretty negligable. I run both Intel and AMD processors depending on what they are needed for. As of this time, Intels 13/14th gen is just as good as AMD's 7000 gen for gaming and workloads, depending on specific use case. I chose AMD because the motherboard options were better and the upgrade path with AMD is typically better (the exception being Threadripper). I haven't noticed a BIOS or driver problem any different from my Intel builds. It's being used with 32GB of memory, a 4TB NVmE drive, and an NVidia card for gaming (purchased 2 budget Intel and 1 AMD 7900XTX video card for other use case builds) and water cooling. It's a solid processor that can handle some harsh workloads.

I got this thing for $440 on sale, just $40 more than 7800x3d. For that price, 100% worth it for multi-threaded work. A bit quirky with how to set it up (like battery performance being balanced?) and AMD auto-update being the most annoying thing ever- but besides that this things insane. Can run games like CS and OW 300fps without breaking 2% usage, all below 60 degrees Celsius. 100% recommend if you can get it around this price point.

I gave my son my old PC build(i9-9900k) so I needed to build a new one for myself. Simple goal of being able to play DCS World in VR on a Quest 3. Originally I was going to go with the 7800x3d but at the time the 7900x3d was within $20 so that is what I went with. A lot of people say that the 7800x3d is a better gaming CPU due to the full 8 cores getting the x3d cache vs the 7900x3d which has 6 cores on the x3d cache and 6 not but to be honest I haven't noticed an issue and this runs DCS World easily. I have always been a fan of the Ryzen CPU's and with the ridiculous pricing of the 14th gen Intel chips its a no brainer to go with AMD.

If you can find a deal on it, it is a wonderful gaming/productivity CPU. It is not as fast as the 7800X3D when gaming, as only 6 of the cores have the 3D cache. The other 6 cores are the standard Zen 4 cores with non-3D cache.

Be sure to update your AMD chipset drivers, and set your power plan in Windows 11 to “balanced” to get the best use of the gaming cores.

This is a surprisingly great chip if you get it for the correct price. Wait for it to be on sale and you won’t be sorry!

Ryzen 9 7900x3d é um meio termo entre o idolatrado 7800x3d e o caríssimo 7950x3d. Se procura o melhor processador apenas para jogar: 7800x3d e seja feliz (segura rtx 4090 sem folga). Se tem grana sobrando e, simplesmente quer o melhor que o dinheiro pode comprar da amd pro pcs domésticos: 7950x3d. Quer algo acima do 7800x3d e menos que o relativamente caro7950x3d? Este cara é o 7900x3d.

Ultra feliz com a compra deste processador, é surreal a diferença prática que senti do, agora aposentado, i7 4790k com overclock. Sinto que vou ficar com essa fera (R9 7900x3d) até 2030 e além, segurando tudo o que existe e o que há de vir com o passar dos anos (no Max, trocar só a placa de vídeo, estou com uma rtx 4070).
