Compact and excellent performance!

Compact and excellent performance!
Bought this used off amazon for about £18.56. It was missing a screw and might have been missing other bits so I'm not super impressed with that. However, I was able to make it work with my own parts and drilling out the holes in the clamp a bit bigger to take my old mounting screw from the stock cooler. It is just the right size to fit in my Thinkstation S30 with Xeon E5 2690 v2 with 130W TDP. It reduced CPU temps by over 20°C. Now CPU stays 50°C to 60°C under load and 25°C to 30°C idle.

I recently upgraded my CPU cooler to the Cooler Master Hyper H412R, and I have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. As an avid PC user who indulges in both gaming and content creation, finding a reliable and efficient cooling solution is crucial, and this cooler did not disappoint.

The first thing that caught my attention was the compact and sleek design of the Hyper H412R. It fits easily into most PC cases without obstructing nearby components, making it an excellent choice for small form factor builds. The build quality feels solid, and the installation process was straightforward, thanks to the included clear instructions and mounting hardware.

When it comes to cooling performance, the Hyper H412R truly shines. Equipped with four direct contact heat pipes and a well-designed aluminum heatsink, it effectively dissipates heat from the CPU. During rigorous tasks like gaming and video rendering, I noticed a significant drop in CPU temperatures compared to the stock cooler I was using before.

Despite its powerful cooling capabilities, the Hyper H412R operates quietly. The 92mm PWM fan spins at a low RPM when the system is idle or under light loads, maintaining a near-silent operation. Even during heavy workloads, the fan noise remained within acceptable levels, ensuring a peaceful computing experience.

Moreover, I appreciate Cooler Master's attention to compatibility. The Hyper H412R supports a wide range of CPU sockets, including Intel LGA 115x and AMD AM4, making it suitable for various processor configurations. This versatility ensures that users can enjoy the benefits of this cooler regardless of their CPU choice.

After fitting an Intel Core i7 870 in place of my old i3 540 on my old Foxconn Socket 1156 motherboard I "upgraded" the cooler to an Arctic Alpine but the CPU was still running too hot for my liking. It would idle at up to 50 degrees C and under load it would hit 70 degrees. Maxxed out with all four cores under load it would hit 90 degrees plus! Now I know the Lynnfield chips run hot but this was way too much. Searching the internet for better cooling solutions the Cooler Master N412R got decent reviews so having checked that I could access the rear of the motherboard behind the CPU without removing it from the case I bought it. Having fitted this cooler and run Geekbench over and over as well as rendering video I'm pleased to say my CPU temps are back in the zone. It idles at less than 35 degrees C, light load takes it up to 50 degrees max and a full sustained load sees temperatures fail to exceed 60 degrees...well within the safe zone for this CPU. That's a huge drop in temp. Hugely impressed. Moreover, if I run Foxconn Smart Fan so that fan speed varies according to CPU load, it is much quieter too. Win win. One major point of note: To fit this fan you must be able to access the rear of the motherboard in the area behind the CPU as it uses a special backplate to support the cooler and fan rather than the (rather rubbish) standard Intel push clip system for Socket 1156. If you can't do this or don't want to remove the whole motherboard to fit it then this cooler is not for you. Also, you must read the fitting instructions really carefully. They are not the best but after a few read throughs it all made sense. Top tip: Lay all the parts out as per their numbers / letters in the contents section before assembly so you can see which piece is which as some are quite similar. Finally, it is quite tall so it's no good for slim cases so check the height of your case to make sure it fits. For me, it's one of the best PC upgrades I've ever made. Really, really effective cooling for the price and probably good enough to support some modest overclocking too. Highly recommended. Will buy one for my AMD socket AM4 Ryzen gaming rig too as it fits most AMD sockets too! P.S: I used Arctic MX-4 paste.

I got this cooler to replace the stock Intel one that I had for years. The games that I were running were getting a bit too demanding for my i7-4790k. Temps were getting to the 80's with games such as Sekiro and Jedi Fallen Order.

I needed a fairly low profile cooler. My NZXT 340 case claimed to have a width of 200mm. Once you take into account the motherboard mounting, you have less space than this to work with. This cooler comfortably fits my space requirements, with maybe about 1.5 cm before it would touch the plastic of my case.

You have everything you need with the kit apart from thermal paste. I needed to check out a video tutorial of how to do it, but it is fairly easy to get it set up. Just be careful with the amount of paste you apply. I used too much and my machine let me knew that it was not too happy with it.

I haven't heard any real noise from it. I can play the games that my GPU and CPU can handle on at least medium and not hear it whine. I don't think I've seen my temps go above 70 since I've installed it. I'll just note that I don't run on max and don't overclock. If you do these things, you may need something more cooling power.

This cooler works well for what I need it to do. I can't say how it works on games from 2020 onward that have some high CPU requirements. But it definitely beats the stock cooler by miles.

Recently installed a Ryzen 5 5600 and was very worried when I saw it hit temps of 83°C. Swapped out the stock cooler for one of these and it doesn't go above about 60ish. Result. Back to business as usual. Would recommend.

Installation is a bit fiddly, but same as any other cpu cooler interface really.
