FEDERAL RECORDS
The Truman Library has in its holdings several groups of federal records. These are official
records of the U.S. government. Most of the Truman Library's holdings of federal records are from three record groups: Record Group 87, Records of the U.S. Secret Service; Record Group 130, Records of the White House Office; and Record
Group 220, Records of Temporary Committees, Commissions and Boards. All of the library's federal records are open, with the exception of 12 linear feet of U.S. Secret Service records concerning the protection of the President.
The records of such components of the Executive Office of the President as the Bureau of the Budget (Record Group 51) and the National Security Council (Record Group 273) are in the custody of the National Archives and Records Administration
in Washington, D.C.
