Over all I'm very happy with this wish I had bought it first. As soon as I tested it I ordered a second for the other GPU (building a 2 gamers 1 cpu system).
If you are curious about performance I did lots of testing I'll share the RX 480 results here.
Using my RX 480 card directly in a x16 slot here are the firestrike scores I achieved in 3D mark
Firestrike Score 10346
Graphics Score 12823
Test 1 FPS 62.14
Test 2 FPS 50.56
Physics Score 13854
Combination Score 3658
Here are the scores for the exact same system the only change was putting the RX 480 GPU on this thermal take PCI-E Extension
Firestrike Score 10716
Graphics Score 12776
Test 1 FPS 61.86
Test 2 FPS 50.41
Physics Score 13596
Combination Score 4241
Ignore the fact that it looks like it went up, slight change in temp in the room or some other anomoly the point is there was no performance loss with the extension with in an acceptable margin of error. I had the same results (no loss in performance) with my GTX 980
Port Royal 2k GPU in PCIE - 6948 (this is default, no changes)
Port Royal 2k GPU with riser - 7019 (this is default, no changes)
Port Royal 4k GPU in PCIE - 14488
Port Royal 4k GPU with riser - 14499
Speed Way default test GPU in PCIE - 5792
Speed Way default test GPU with riser - 5792
Each batch of tests was done upon fresh boot.
So the scores don't matter much. I only wanted to make sure this riser wasn't going lessen performance. I recently ordered a 4090 and need to mount the card vertical to fit, thus had to buy this. The above tests were just wanting to test it out before the new card arrives since I want to be able to rule this cable out should I run into issues. I bought a custom power connector that I can't test until the card arrives and now I can at least eliminate this riser should I have any issues.
Great cable! Easy to install, no performance lost. It's nice when some things work for a change (anyone building their own PC's know what mean which is most likely everyone reading this).
Otherwise, this is one solid beast of a cable.
I've had a Node 202 for the past 4 years, 0 issues until 2 weeks ago. The included riser card failed, well one of pieces to the kit. I tried ASUS product because I wanted high quality plus I have an ASUS motherboard and the product was amazing in quality but they only sell right angle riser's so no luck in fitting in my case.
ThermalTake was the next best known brand I knew that had one and they had one that went straight instead of a right angle. If you're looking to fit this in a Node 202, just know while possible it was insanely hard but do-able. In my picture I will include the specific area you need to remove from the cases structure if you want to fit it in the GPU without damaging the case. But if you were to cut the width a bit wider this would fit no problem. It's the cable length that was the problem but the width of its board.
The only reason I give 4/5 is because I think the width of the boards are bit excessive; for a x16 riser that isn't angled. Why because I believe that if it isn't right angled chances are we have a mounting surface already. I pretty sure most who use this cable are trying to get through tight fit so the board's width was in the way for my case. But if you're not working with Ultra Small Form Factor cases like the Node 202, Milo Z, RVZ02B, etc. then it's definitely 5/5.

There is no physical difference between the slot.
Electrical engineer here:
Here's some things to know.
The resistance of the trace lines is extremely important. The higher the frequency, or longer the length of wire the more precise it has to be. As a matter of fact the board manufacturer goes through great lengths on the PCI slot to ensure that the trace wires are the same length with the exact same resistance. If they're off by even the smallest degree it will cause an issue.
- Do not kink or bend wire (it will affect the resistance)
- make sure no wires are touching it or close to it (electrical noise is a real phenomenon) and will Jack your world.
- do not touch the connection (pins are gold-plated for a reason) obviously that can affect the resistance, and lead to dissimilar metal corrosion.
This cable is capable of pcie 4.0.... if you're having a problem go re-read everything I just said.
