Steam Link build 688
We've just released an update to the Steam Link firmware.

Changes:
  • Added support for Steam Link Anywhere, now in early beta

Steam Link Anywhere allows you to stream games to your Steam Link from any computer running Steam, as long as your computer has good upload speed and your Steam Link device has a good network connection.

To use Steam Link Anywhere:
  1. Add a computer and select "Other Computer"
  2. Follow the pairing instructions on screen

This service is in early beta, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to improve the service.

Can you please specify what constitutes GOOD upload speeds?

Does this work with the Android app as a client, or just the Steam Link hardware itself?

What port do I need to open?

Only hardware for now. Probably to test before pushing to mobile.

I'm getting "Couldn't connect to <pcname> on port 0" . Is it because my ISP used NAT?

This is actually really exciting to me. I recently took my Steam Link with me on a trip home, about a thousand miles away from where I live now, and streaming online from my desktop worked PERFECTLY. To see this feature get official support from Valve is fantastic.

Any thoughts on Linux support for the host? Beta build on Linux is still showing a Feb build date.

Works beautifully on my Galaxy S8, even over 4G. The future is now, people.
