I think it closing on itself is the exact problem and they don't desire it to close.
They desire it to keep running so they can continue to play.
Alt+f4 before it force closes itself isn't really solving the problem other than taking back some semblance of control which does nothing ^_^

The solution is everyone refund their game to force them to fix their game they wrongfully released with poor quality.

Those things often only work with smaller online communities. Not single player rereleased games

I got through the whole game without crashing until the final cutscene... beat it 3 times without officially beating it because it keeps crashing before the cutscene can finish :/
