Over the past day or so I've been looking over the internet trying to fix the startup crash and have found these fixes (that fixed it for me).

Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\GingerBread\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor and open the file called Engine.ini with either Notepad or Notepad++ (other text editors might work too), add this to the bottom of the file.


save your changes (ctrl+s) and go back to steam, right click the game, go to properties and add this as a launch option (it's a text field so just type it in or paste it in).
