Balancing video games, mental health, and a PHD

Season 3, Episode 3

On this episode, Rosie chats with Magic: The Gathering enthusiast, games researcher, PHD student and Class of 2024 Ambassador – Sahar Mirhadi.

We discuss iGGi, (The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence), which is a leading PhD research programme aimed at the Games and Creative Industries.

Sahar talks about her current research in games and what’s next for her in the realm of research, as well as what she’d like to see more of within the research community.

We also cover the challenges faced by PHD students and academic students, touching on burnout and stress specifically within this field, as well as highlighting what you can do to try and protect your wellbeing whilst studying.
