Introduction

What is the Global Hospital Rating?

Statista and Newsweek are proud to introduce the Global Hospital Rating: a comprehensive hospital benchmarking system, created to offer an overview of a hospital’s strengths across five quality dimensions. The quality dimensions are provision and timeliness of care, patient experience and safety, IT and healthcare technology, as well as employer attractiveness.

The rating process is based on a comprehensive survey that participating hospitals submit directly to Statista. The submitted data undergoes a thorough evaluation and validation by the Statista Team. After the evaluation is completed, hospitals meeting the criteria are awarded a rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars.

All rated hospitals are featured on both the Statista R website and Newsweek.com.

Global Hospital Rating vs. World’s Best Hospitals Ranking

What are the differences?

Global Hospital Rating

Recognizes general hospitals around the globe via a rating system

  • To participate in the Global Hospital Rating, hospitals can apply for evaluation here.
  • To receive a rating, the hospital submits data via a survey that consists of five categories relevant to the provision of healthcare services and attractiveness as an employer.
  • After the submitted data has been validated, the data is evaluated, and the hospital receives a rating of 1 to 5 stars.
  • The rating is valid for a period of 2-3 years with yearly checkpoints along the way.
  • The rating can be renewed by future evaluations.

World’s Best Hospital Ranking

Top Hospitals ranked in 30 countries

  • To be included in World’s Best Hospitals, registration is not necessary.
  • The ranking is a comparison between top hospitals in each country. It is based on recommendations from medical professionals, publicly available hospital quality metrics, patient satisfaction data, and a voluntary Patient Reported Outcome Measures implementation survey.
  • Hospitals can sign up to receive the invitation to the voluntary Patient Record Outcome Measures implementation survey here.
  • A scoring model is used to calculate the overall hospital score, which determines the rank of the hospital receiving the award.

Please note: The Global Hospital Rating does not influence the World’s Best Hospitals Ranking position.
