“The Bronx Anti War Coalition and Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network are partnering to organize a teach-in on Palestinian resistance. This event will dive into the reality of Palestinian life under Zionist occupation, the various forms of resistance employed, and the portrayal of their right to resist in mainstream Western media. The discussion will conclude with ways we can show solidarity and defend Palestinian resistance by any means necessary. By shedding light on the different armed resistance groups in Palestine and the ‘Axis of Resistance’ in the region, our objective is to demystify Arab resistance and arm you with the knowledge required to foster global solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle. Our esteemed speakers will include Charlotte Kates and Khaled Barakat, with moderation by Saher Al Khamash and Marina Samuel.”

The producer, artistic director, and an educator at The Freedom Theatre in Jenin were kidnapped alongside over 100 other Palestinians today (13 Dec 23).
The Freedom Theatre is a hub of cultural resistance and artistic community in the occupied West Bank.
Join me in calling on theatre institutions to demand the immediate release of these kidnapped artists. Here’s the email I’m sending; feel free to copy but please adjust the phrasing to avoid spam filters:
“Today in Jenin refugee camp, The Freedom Theatre’s artistic director Ahmed Tobasi, producer Mustafa Sheta, and acting teacher Jamal Abu Joas were taken hostage by the Israeli army alongside over one hundred other Palestinian civilians. This follows the murder of three Freedom Theatre artists in the last few weeks: Yamen Jarrar (17), Jehad Naghniyeh (26), and Mohammed Matahen (30). The global theatre community must stand up in support of artists persecuted by the occupation regime. There is extensive documentation of torture in Israeli occupation detention centers. I urge [name of organization] to issue a public statement demanding the immediate release of these hostages.
Here’s a recent article about The Freedom Theatre’s work with traumatized children: [AJ link above]”
I’m also adding a brief statement from my perspective as a theatre artist, expressing my disappointment in my local and national theatre scene for its silence. If you’re a theatre artist or theatre-goer I encourage you to do the same!

Help Newborn Trapped in Al-Mawasi Camp Evacuate
Hi guys, as you may recall, Wafaa (@wafans-blog) recently got in contact with her brother Muhammad and sister Shaima, who thankfully are unharmed with their spouses and children. Wafaa is verified on @el-shab-hussein and @nabulsi's vetted spreadsheet (family number #171).
The campaign has been stagnating for more than 12 hours now, I cannot impress upon you more that this pair of brother and sister, who have 10 children in total, need your help to evacuate their children and keep them safe.
A trauma surgeon at a Khan Younis field hospital reported late last night that the iof repeatedly and fatally targets children by "firing directly at their head and chest" especially during this new round of offenses in Khan Younis. Please don't only be mobilized by tragedy. Help now.
Muhammad hopes that his newborn son, Salem, who only a few weeks old, can evacuate with Wafaa's family who has raised their evacuation fees. Salem is a priority concern because the overwhelmed hospital in Khan Younis does not have vaccines for him, making him especially susceptible to viral infections that have been spreading among the al-Mawasi camp.
To help the family achieve this, we need to raise $2,500 USD as soon as possible!! There has only been 6 donations in the past 11 hours. Currently $672 as of July 28 morning, that's $1,828 left to raise to save Salem!!
There’s been $50 in donations in the past hour. Thank you to those who broke the stagnation today, but this is still NOT ENOUGH. I no longer know how to emphasize how urgent it is to help this family suffering in Khan Younis.
They understand a big campaign like this may take a long time but they are only asking for people to save their youngest—a weeks long infant. Salem, a beautiful and well-behaved son.
Please. Please do something. Donate to the best of your ability. Let’s get them to $2,500 by the end of next week by the very latest.
Currently $877 raised of $2,500 for Salem’s evacuation as of July 28 evening. That’s $1,623 left to raise in the next 7 days.
