In a cardiac arrest the first few minutes are vital and early CPR and an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) use greatly increase chances of survival. We've just launched our first Hato Hone St John branded defibrillators which are capable of delivering a shock in as little as seven seconds. With user friendly visual and verbal instructions, they are more accessible and can be used without any prior training. AED key features: • Child mode - designed to deliver defibrillation at levels that are safe and effective for children. The 'Child button' recalibrates the AED to administer lower-energy shocks, adhering to the latest paediatric care standards. • Lightweight and compact - making storage easier and the unit mobile enough to transport. • More accessible - A coloured LCD screen on our X3 model provides animated, step by step pictorial instructions which are easy to understand. We are excited to be launching these new units in our store and looking forward to more accessible, up to date and easy to use AEDs being available in our communities 💛 #AED #CardiacArrest #Health #Community

It had been an ordinary day when Bernie suddenly felt unwell. He stepped out of the store he was in to get some air when his condition worsened. An ambulance was called which happened to be our first EV emergency ambulance. This call was the first incident the vehicle and crew responded to for transport to the emergency department 🚑🏥 Bernie and Susan had just read about the EV trial before seeing it up close, and liked the layout and quietness inside the vehicle. Susan could sit close to Bernie and talk to him on the way to the hospital, while our crew had everything close at hand to help. Bernie is now back home recovering and said while he loved the EV, he’s in no rush to go for another ride in it if he can avoid it. This EV emergency ambulance, the first in Australasia, is being trialled in Hamilton over the next year to monitor its range, clinical capability and functionality, ensuring patient safety. A big thank you to ASB Bank for generously funding this project 💛

We are excited to announce that our Public Training and Clinical Services teams have been awarded the Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark 🏅 We are proud to be the first, first aid training provider in New Zealand to receive this recognition and we are committed to continuing to make this vital information more accessible for all learners. Dyslexia affects 1 in 10 people, and increasing visibility and support helps to dispel myths and provide opportunities for our learners and colleagues. This quality mark has been specifically developed by Ako Aotearoa and commissioned by the Tertiary Education Commission to positively change adult education for learners with dyslexia. Holders of the mark have to demonstrate that they meet the standards in leadership and management, quality of teaching and learning, the teaching and learning environment, and relationships with external stakeholders. Thank you to all those who have worked to make this training more accessible for all. #Dyslexia #InclusiveEducation #FirstAid #Training #Education #HatoHoneStJohn #Diversity #NZ
