It’s been a rough few weeks if you’re Jewish and look at most news sites. In my city of Montreal there was a near-riot on Wednesday when a group of students at Concordia University had set up a table in the main hall with posters of the people kidnapped by Hamas and taken into for ransom at some later point.

A group of other students, many wearing keffiyehs, confronted them and swarmed the table, snatching the photos and roughing them up. The cops were called and it took three hours to settle things down.

A girl from that smaller group, the ones who had set up the table, called a local radio station. She was almost in tears as she talked, on air, about being yelled at and having her life threatened. Someone said to her face, “we will follow you home and we will kill you.”

And this. Jewish schools being shot at. After hours for now, but the threat is right there.

I’m opinionated and off-center. I’ve also written a book called Dark Muse, a Jewish paranormal, with romance with sex and kabbalah all mixed together.
