Summer hair needs to be quick, easy and fun. When days are hot then women need hairstyles that look just as good at the end of the day. As we all know, hairdressers remain closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and even when they do open there is no guarantee that we will get an appointment any time soon. To help you during this difficult time we’ve found 10 easy summer hair trends that you can achieve at home.

1. The braided ponytail

The ponytail really is the look of summer, but you can go one step further by creating the braided ponytail. This is when you need an extra pair of hands, so why not have a girly night in and work on each other’s hair? All this look requires is that you create a neat ponytail and then lots of patience to make individual braids. Once done this look can last you several days as it is very low maintenance.

2. Add some golden highlights

Nothing says summer like highlighted hair and this is something that can be easily achieved at home with a home dying kit. Just remember to follow the instructions and opt for a semi-permanent dye, just in case you don’t like the results.

3. The messy bun

When the days are hot it is always good to keep your hair up and out of your face. It also makes it much easier to go about your day. The messy bun is quick, and let’s face it, it doesn’t have to be perfect. The bun can be on top of your head, or at the nape of your neck. Just remember to pull a few strands free.

4. Clip it up

Are you between hairstyles? Perhaps you want to grow out that cute pixie cut? If you do then you can embrace the clip-it-up summer hair trend. This is basically a style where anything goes, making it perfect for lazy days in the park or on the beach. Simply twist small sections of hair and fix it in place with a small Kirby grip. Looks great and is highly practical.

5. Two-tone colour trend

Now this is a great look when you are growing out your colour or if you want to try a new colour. If growing out your roots then either scrape your hair back with a hairband or part in the middle. Just be sure to apply plenty of product to make your hair glossy and tangle free. If you want to try a new colour then simply dip die your hair.

6. The single braid

We all loved The Hunger Games, right? This is the look that embodies Katniss Everdeen, and if you have long hair this is the trend that you really need to try. It’s super easy, incredibly practical when you need to work, and you can update the look for a weekend by adding coloured weaves.

7. Baby braids

Braids are always in fashion, so if you want to play it safe then baby braids are the trend for you. This type of braid works on all hair lengths and thickness, so anyone can give it a try. Baby braids look super cute when used to frame your face, or you can just do one random baby braid. To take the look to the next level weave in a coloured strand.

8. Side parted curls

If you have curly hair then why not try styling your hair a little differently? One of the key looks this summer is the side parting and the great news is that this works really well with curly hair. Just clip your hair to the side with a slide or cute Kirby clip.

9. The natural look

None of us wants to spend hours doing our hair during the beautiful summer months. So, ditch the hair straighteners and embrace those gentle waves and the natural look. Simply wash your hair, apply a little styling product and allow hair to dry naturally. Quick, easy and perfect for summer.

10. The cute bandanna

Finally, one of the easiest summer hair trends is the bandanna. This is especially a good look when you have those roots growing through that you want to cover up. Choose a bandanna with a floral print or your fave cartoon characters. Pull out a few strands of hair to frame your face and be sure to curl those ends.

Just remember to have fun with your hair this summer. Try different styles and colours, and get your friends involved, especially when you need to braid your hair and experiment with different styles!
