poke into (someone or something)
1. To jab, push, or prod into someone or something. The bus was so packed that someone's elbow was poking into me for the whole ride. Something sharp in the bag must have been poking into the package of steaks, because there's meat juice over everything!
2. To jab, push, or prod something into someone or something. In this usage, a noun or pronoun is used between "poke" and "into." Stop poking your elbow into me! I poked a long stick into the hole to make sure there wasn't anything living in it.
