hand (one) (one's) head

hand (one) (one's) head

To completely destroy or devastate someone—as emphasized by the phrase's image of decapitation. I thought I was doing well in my new role, but man, did my boss hand me my head in my performance review! Mom is gonna hand you your head when she comes home from her business trip and finds that you dented her brand-new car! 17–1? Yeah, I'd say that team handed us our heads today.
