About Memoirscape

New Limited Extension Options!

  • Come back to Memoirscape—or experience it for the first time! This limited extension showcases the original Memoirscape immersive narrative experience. Originally debuted in May of this year, it was later demonstrated to great acclaim at the Foundations of Digital Games 2024 conference and members of the creative team were interviewed by the Boston chapter of the International Game Developers Association. Now we’re bringing Memoirscape back for a limited time to give guests a second chance to help Dr. Adler.

  • You asked and we listened: Book a slice of time in 1986! One of the many ways to play in Memoirscape is within a pair of rooms in Dr. Adler’s grandmother’s NYC apartment, circa 1986. As part of our limited extension, we’re now offering the option to book this room-only experience, with period-appropriate snacks, working RCA TV and VCR, and a selection of films available to watch. Check our FAQ for more information, and book your event today!

  • Not local, but still want to experience Memoirscape? We’ve created a unique remote-play option, using first-person viewpoint camerawork and live video conferencing. Contact us for more information and booking opportunities!

A press release from the Adler Interactive Memory Lab:

Welcome to Memoirscape

Step into the recreated haven of a Queens, NYC, apartment circa 1986. Indulge in the warmth of nostalgia as you experience—or explore—a slice of time from Dr. Julia Adler’s childhood, long before she became a professor or started experimenting with memory technology. Come back to when everything was beautiful and perfect. Because it was perfect. It really was.

There’s no rush to escape here. Instead, you can immerse yourself in the space, let your curiosity guide you, and notice the narrative unfold. Allow yourself to relax, to play around, to savor. Through this gentle exploration, you can let Dr. Adler’s narrative reveal itself to you, layer by layer.

Go back to an era of endless Snake games and Rubik’s cubes and comic books. Remember how it felt to be happy, to be nothing but happy? Julie’s exhibit eagerly awaits your exploration. Ready to join in? Book your entrance time now!

Something for Everyone

  • The idea of an “escape” room stress you out? That’s okay; you won’t be pushed to escape anything here. You can choose to stay or go whenever you like; the only limiting factors are the time you book to enter and the 8 P.M. closing time.

  • Never been to an immersive experience, and uncertain what to do? This is the room for you! Memoirscape is a place where you can take the time to explore and learn how interactive experiences work either on your own, with friends, or with the help of dedicated room assistants there to answer questions and provide hints.

  • You’re an escape-room expert and you’re looking for a new challenge? Test yourself against an experience built specifically to tempt guests into relaxing into the nostalgic analogue entertainment of the 1980s, from comics to computer games to Scholastic books to fuzzy televisions to board games set out and waiting for the next round to start.

There are multiple ways to play—which will you choose?
