The story has it that the pair were rivals for the affections of a water nymph called
Rimmon, who came from Chew Brook in the valley.

In fact, when the Bible actually refers to a geographic feature related to Megiddo, it is not a mountain but a valley: "On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad
Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo" (Zechariah 12:11).

Rimmon (2 Kings 5:18); but in context, it makes much more sense as a reference to Kipling's poem '
Rimmon', presumably unknown to Saul, which refers to the House rather than Temple of
Rimmon.
