Agility has become a necessary mindset for companies facing new challenges, and the role of the agile coach is becoming increasingly important in the agile transformation. But how can companies train and find the right agile coaches?

Two decades after the introduction of agile, this study employs a survey of DACH30 companies to examine how modern organizations can identify and access the most suitable agile coaches for their business. The research investigates the present state of agile coach training and offers insights from the agile community how companies could get more agile by adapting the training concept.

This study contributes to the practice of large corporations by recommending to adapt the experience of the DACH30 agile community, which suggests that external agile industry certifications in an isolated manner are not an effective approach to fostering a strong agile culture within an organization. Furthermore, this research advances current knowledge by proposing that a new phase in agile education has been reached, and industries using agile methodologies must explore alternative approaches to attain the next level of agility.

  • Improving service quality through customer feedback – the case of NPS in IBM’s training services

    Emerald

The paper extends the discussion on the merit of using a net promoter score (NPS) to enhance the service design of organisations and to facilitate quality monitoring and improvement. NPS is a basic measure to assess the likelihood of a customer recommending an organisation to somebody else. This paper aims to show that this metric can be effective in monitoring and improving the quality of workplace training.

  • The User Perspective on Innovation in eLearning: A Single-Case Study from IBM

    Springer, ISBN: 978-3-031-15558-1

Innovation in eLearning has been discussed in academic research for more than 30 years. Current research around eLearning even questions if former product adoption models are still valid, and new alternative formats are tested. In times of subscriptions and anonymous selling via the internet the question on how users in organisations perceive innovation in eLearning and product adoption is addressed in this research.

This single-case approach in the cloud and AI industry presented here investigates what users expect from their Human Resources department around eLearning.

The findings provide insights into how users see current trends in short and immediate eLearning. The findings not only underline recent research of the existing lifecycle model by integrating eLearning into the product, but also provide insights on what is expected from AI in an eLearning context. The need to link corporate eLearning with academic micro-credits support the life-long learning concept at IBM.

    Springer, ISBN: 978-3-030-85521-5

The need to link eLearning and innovation has been discussed in depth in education and entrepreneurship since its inception 30 years ago. The need to link eLearning and innovation has been discussed in depth in education and entrepreneurship since its inception 30 years ago. In times of subscriptions and anonymous selling via the internet organisations have one need prior to adopting a product: they need to acquire the right skills to accept the innovation a new product brings them.

There is significant research outlining how eLearning supports the increase of knowledge in general and especially in organisational product adoption which details both the positive and negative impacts and practicalities of eLearning and its use. This cross-industry multi-case approach in automotive, healthcare and other sectors investigates the status and the potential of eLearning in Big Tech.

We present findings that suggest embedding all needed eLearning directly into products before or during product introduction. Short and immediate eLearning and usage of simulations to uniform processes is the solution to increase product adoption. This suggestion is not only changing the well-known product lifecycle model by integration eLearning into the product, as AI will be able to analyse the eLearning data and give valuable feedback for the future product and process improvements.

There is a vast range of academic research that details both the positive impacts and practicalities of NPS and certain instances where NPS would not be applicable. Research indicates that, although NPS isn’t necessarily related to the results or success of a business, from a corporate perspective, it can provide a solid basis from which to make smart business decisions that benefit a company. We will present an exemplary case study from IBM and we will be able to demonstrate direct impacts for existing businesses. Furthermore we propose a working model that will be useful for other businesses.

  • New Collar training: A deep dive into the details why technology giants are investing into basic skills training - and how individuals, schools, universities and companies can benefit

    ICERI, ISBN: 978-84-09-05948-5

    Until five years ago:
    - technology companies focused on building skills around their products.
-Clients used those courses to train their employees prior to starting a new role.
-Students completing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees used those courses after their studies or to move forward in their careers.

-Clients used those courses to train their employees prior to starting a new role.
-Students completing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees used those courses after their studies or to move forward in their careers.

Since last year, some of the top 10 IT companies added a stronger focus around subjects that have nothing to do with their own products.
Companies such as IBM and Google are building programs that address basic skills such as Customer Relationship Management, Security, Big Data Analysis or even soft skills – independent from their own products.
The same companies are investing in undergraduate education as well as general education for the un- and under-employed, building technology schools and are training people in general skills to use the Internet.
Universities are starting to accept micro credentials from IT companies.
In this paper, we will dive into some examples and investigate the reasons for these developments. Furthermore, we’ll look into the positive impacts for companies, schools and universities as well as for everybody with or without a current job.
We’ll explore examples from IBM and Google building education, not related to their products, and one example of training unemployed people using New Collar courses.
To judge the examples and their impact on society we will
    - Analyze the potential benefit for the companies creating New Collar courses
    - Evaluate the size of the potential market for New Collar
    - Finally, we will explore the benefits for each of the groups mentioned above and provide an outlook that not only helps companies to close their skills gaps but also streamline specific skill increase.

    - We will point out how schools and universities can benefit from this in their preparation for the future.

Most people dealing with Education have heard about digital credentials, certifications, and badges. But today’s usage of Badges is only the start: evolution around micro credentials will influence missions and actions of educational institutions and other industries.

We’re starting with a summary of what problems were addressed by the introduction of badges, and will explore further their influence for issuers, recipients, and the industry as a whole. Next, we will look at other evolution in the education industry and how badges will have a part in that.

Finally, we’re bringing the existing and future processes and approaches around badges together and we’ll create an easy-to-manage framework. The purpose is to present a structured approach, which helps educational institutions, employees, employers in general and also Human Resources to close the current skill gaps as fast as possible.

  • Satisfy Education needs in the time of Cloud Computing in more than 150 countries

    IATED, ISBN 978-84-697-9480-7, pages 8358-8364

Globalization is a word that is used a lot around Education.

All companies need to think about Global Education once they’re selling their products in multiple countries.

With the move to Cloud based Software, Education Globalization means more than providing skills in certain countries. Theoretically, we’re facing the need to find ways to provide all education in any country of the world if we want to satisfy the users’ skill needs of any Cloud based product.

With the move to Cloud based Software, Education Globalization means more than providing skills in certain countries. Theoretically, we’re facing the need to find ways to provide all education in any country of the world if we want to satisfy the users’ skill needs of any Cloud based product.

In this paper, we’re going to do a deep dive into the example of one of the top ten information technology companies who understood they must increase Education coverage from around 60 to close to 170 countries to cope with the future. Besides coverage increase the objective was to maintain the high quality and to triple the skills worldwide.

To be able to position the example correctly:
    - We’ll start with a review of the decision process behind the globalization project,
    - We’ll understand their definition of coverage and success factors to be able to review the outcome later.

In the main section, the focus is going to be on the results of this education globalization approach three years after the project completion.

On one hand, we’ll look purely to the outcome under the aspects of coverage definition, on the other hand, we’ll review changes that happened around Education Methodologies that were not foreseen.

We’ll then end with lessons learnt and a discussion around the challenges that exist in the new model and possible solutions.
