Meet the Team: Giulia, Social Media Manager

Yes, we know, we know. You are still mourning Jay’s departure (to Australia), but we do have someone new here to fill his empty desk. Meet Giulia, our new Social Media Manager!

Let’s start with a bit of your background. Tell us something about yourself and how did you end up being the Social Media Manager for Travian: Legends?

Hey there! So, first of all, I am Giulia, I am from Italy and I have just started my adventure here at Travian Games. Long story short, I moved to Munich in 2015 after graduating, I fell in love with the city and decided to stick around and fight my daily battle against the German language. I have worked in the gaming industry before so I would say that this position was the perfect opportunity to grow in a role I have always been very passionate about. Games and social media are the perfect combos, like mozzarella on pizza, if we want to compare it to Italian food. I am particularly happy to be part of this team because Travian: Legends is such an interesting and complex project. Yes, I am a noob to the game, but I do love a good challenge. What else? When I am not trying to decipher the latest Facebook algorithm change, you can find me wandering around Munich and Europe with my camera. That’s me in a nutshell.

Tell us a bit about what you do as a Social Media Manager.

My main tasks are creating engaging content for our players on each of Travian Legends’ Social Media channels (Facebook, YouTube, blog, you name it) and supporting the community to make sure everyone is having a good time on those platforms. My superpower is scrolling very fast through thousands of posts and leave hundreds of thumbs up or emojis. I am basically spreading positivity on a daily basis. My desk is full of post-it notes with random ideas, obscure hashtags, and cryptic keywords.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Storytelling. I always try to deliver a story through the content I post online, whether it is just a simple server announcement or a funny video about the Romans. I tend to do that offline too. Stories are engaging, they make people feel connected and they usually spark discussions. And, of course, something I really enjoy is reading positive comments and feedback about the game.

Since you’re working for a gaming company, you must play games, right? What are your top 3 all-time favorite games?

Of course, I play games! I remember how excited I was when I got my first PS1. After a couple of days, I was absolutely addicted to it. And before that, I used to spend hours playing card games on my Windows ’95 computer. My top 3 is very old school and definitely connected to my childhood. Crash Bandicoot, The Sims, and Civilization.

Now time for a random question, as usual. What are you freakishly bad at?

Peeling fruit and vegetables. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but it takes me ages to complete such a simple task. I know it sounds funny, but it’s so extreme that I eat certain things only if they are already peeled. I definitely need a crash course.

Thank you for reading our interview, we hope you enjoyed getting to know Giulia a bit more! If you have any questions for her, don’t hesitate to leave a comment, otherwise, stay tuned for the next edition of Meet the Team!
