Meet Onyx, our new eco-friendly watch bird! 🦅 This Peuco bird helps keep our Puerto Coloso facilities, where we export the copper we produce in Escondida, safe by using "biological control" to reduce pelicans, seagulls, and pigeons. Thanks to Onyx, we’re protecting our workers, reducing slip hazards, and preserving our infrastructure - all while being kind to the environment. #safety #mining #chile

🚢 We’re committed to reducing emissions on BHP-chartered shipping to support the world’s transition to net zero. And thanks to some incredible partnerships, we’re making it happen. Along with Pan Pacific Copper and Norsepower we recently announced the fitting of a wind-assisted propulsion system onboard a vessel in our shipping routes between Japan and Chile. The system will use wind power to reduce fuel use, and is just one of several projects we’re working on with partners as we continue to work towards decarbonisation in the value chain. #decarbonisation #partnerships #shipping

We finished FY24 with a strong fourth quarter including record iron ore production and the highest copper production in over 15 years. Some of the other highlights were: - Highest copper production in four years at Escondida and another year of record production from Spence, both in Chile. - Stage 1 of our Jansen potash project is now 50% complete, keeping us on track to become one of the world’s biggest potash producers. - Our Western Australia Iron Ore business delivered a second consecutive year of record production. #mining #copper #ironore #performance

Meet our Mobile Fleet Maintenance team at Olympic Dam in South Australia. ◾ They were excited and proud to gather for a photo in front of our new EPIROC MT65 mine haul truck and Caterpillar R2900 Loader. ◾ Both trucks are engineered with safety, productivity and operator comfort in mind. ◾ Did you know that Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper. Fact! #mining #copper #safety #southaustralia #factoftheday

Getting all pumped up at our Peak Downs BMA operations in Queensland. ⚖️ One giant mining tyre weighs 4.2 tonnes and stands over 3.5 meters high, making them some of the largest truck tyres in the world. 🔧 Tyres are rotated between the front and rear wheels of our haul trucks and are routinely repaired to extend their life. ⌛ Typically truck tyres last up to 100,000km or 6000 operating hours. #mining #miningtyres #queensland

Meet the M/V Koryu which is kitted out with the amazing-looking Norsepower Rotor Sail™. 🛳 This ship will carry copper concentrates from our Chilean mines into Japan, and transport sulphuric acid from Japan to our Chilean assets. 🛳 What is the Rotor Sail and why is it important? The sail will utilise wind power to help the ship save fuel on the Chile-Japan route. This is just one of several projects we are working on with partners to help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions intensity of BHP-chartered shipping of BHP products. 🌳 #shipping #mining #sustainable

Meet Denise, the first female Dragline Development Supervisor at our Saraji mine in Queensland. "I reflect on my mining journey and I am proud of my accomplishments. There were many challenges and obstacles, but with leaps and bounds, I have overcome them. Everyone has been so supportive of me, particularly my Superintendent, Glen Fox," she said. Denise has been in the mining industry for almost 17 years. She credits moving from the Sunshine Coast to Mackay as the reason she can also enjoy work-life balance in this role. 📸 Denise and Glen #queensland #womeninmining #mining

🖐🏽 Meet Jack, a Site Improvement Principal at Newman Operations, and a serving member of the Australian Defence Force. Jack served in the Army for 22 years before starting at BHP. Thanks to flexible work, he can balance his commitments to both organisations, as well as to his young family. 👨👩👧👧 #mining #workbalance #flexiblework

As we move towards a lower carbon future, copper is essential to creating the infrastructure needed for renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar. ✔️ Escondida is the world's largest copper producer. ✔️ We are actively trialing technologies to help us to extract more copper and utilise latent capacity. ✔️Escondida is already one of the most responsible copper producers globally through its use of renewable power and desalinated water. #chile #copper #escondida
