Dumbest change. But it shows desperation to make more money. EA whoever sat in yalls meetings and decided this was a good idea, failed you. Games that you compete with are making more money yet they don't charge real money for the battle pass. Look at fornite, you buy the battle pass for the first time and get 1500 vbucks, you even have extra to get something in the store. You are doing everything but understand what it means to keep your players in the game. Unless you want apex to comprise of pro players and content creators, keep this up.
In cause you wondering why the average number of players is slowly reducing, just take a look at community feedback on social platforms. Do better or be a failing BR game.

What an absolutely short sighted move it was to charge double the price for a single season. The game has not been on great standing since the final fantasy event and now they want to double down by trying to milk the remaining loyal players https://9apps.ooo/ ? Truly crazy levels of greed going on at respawn. (They have said multiple times they are in charge of monetization). Tiny violins for the billion dollar company & Ggs. Far too many better games to play these days.

@binolmi
Some background:
Please remember that EA is stock listed corporation so they have to make certain profit to achieve the shareholders expectations. Otherwise the guys at the top will lose their jobs and someone else even more ruthless could take their place with promises of even bigger profits.
Apex is free to play game so there is no income on the game sales. There are significant server costs to have hundreds of thousands of players playing it globally + Respawn has about 300 employees. Where does the money come in brother besides the microtransactions to cover the costs & make profit? I know you cant be that blue eyed that you expect these corporate execs to host games out of goodwill or even care about your matchmaking experience.
Where we are now:
Player count is going down and money coming in is slowing down etc. So management has two options: Cut the cost = remove servers or fire people OR find other ways to get money coming in.
I am glad they chose the latter one which means there are still employed people to make such games in the future with this game possibly dying. Apex 2.0 with proper anti-cheat etc.
Most likely we are going to get alot of good (new maps + weapons etc.) with the bad delivered to us first to make us ignore/forget this kind of pricing change. I havent bought BP even though I had the coins. No-one is forcing you to buy it in the future. Get rid of the pixel FOMO and keep playing as you did before.

You guys are making your worse decision ever, and why I say that is because what I heard about next season, you cannot buy the battle pass with Apex Coins I’ve been playing Apex since it came out and now it is coming to an end after hearing that I will always play Apex to grind a battle pass now playing Apex for nothing would basically make the game Boring why are you guys making this decision? I hope the developers see this to let them know that this would actually ruin the game for people who love playing.

yep it's a turbo scam especially when the game is in a terrible state.
but anyway if you gave respawn money thoses past years you deserve to be scammed.

Imagine playing a game for the fun of playing a game.
Not to "grind" or "sweat" to complete something for a pixel reward.
Or stop playing because you dont want to make a microtransaction thats completely unrelated to whether you can play the game or not.
Please wake up from your pixel FOMO.
IMO the best you can do is to keep playing but not buy the BP.
Devs get data of high player number generating low profit to show to the execs that this change in fact was a stupid idea.

@Azov1988 "Their execs"
Brother, its everywhere. Try to maximize profits. Rather see their product crash and burn / lose some customers than to make decent profit.
All of the big gaming companies are doing the same thing, streaming companies like Netflix, HBO, Disney also so I guess its like a trend or sign of times...

I don't think I'm being any kind of socialist when I simply make the observation that this is a sign of capitalism. Management's needs come first. Shareholders' second. Customers' a distant third. And to give the devil his due, no game stays viable for as long as this one has. It was always going to decline, in one way or another, at one time or another. It's now and it's like this. It's still far from unplayable, imo, as long as you're not addicted to worthless electronic swag, and are not trying to grind a rank.

@reconzero Agreed except one point. Shareholders = company board are holding their money boot on the neck of the day-to-day business management who gave them budgets & profit estimates prior.
These have to be met with results or super good "force majeure" excuses or its bye byes.
And just to be clear I could maybe label myself as one of those corporate a-cavities but in a completely different industry XD
So these opinions are pretty much how I would handle or see the situation if I put myself in the position of game developer side.
Not that socialistic or capitalistic views are all that bad.
