About the author
![Jeremy Bai](https://cdn.statically.io/img/m.media-amazon.com/images/S/amzn-author-media-prod/9m7mf9jt07hj46fihiajv7v35v._SY600_.jpg)
Jeremy Bai grew up in San Diego reading things like Barsoom, Redwall, Shannara, Riftwar, and Foundation. His first published work came in 1995 in the form of a cyberpunk noir story about a digital bounty hunter. Later, he became obsessed with wuxia, especially the works of Jin Yong and Gu Long. He lived in China for eight years, where he made a name for himself translating under the moniker Deathblade. Now he's back in Southern California, trying to be a parent while simultaneously writing sci-fi and fantasy epics. His favorite foods are SoCal rolled tacos and Chongqing hotpot, and his favorite drinks are black coffee, IPAs, and whiskey.

AWE is my favorite xianxia, topping even ISSTH (Er Gen's prior story). The story has epic moments as good as any xianxia published, but the comedy is what made the story my favorite. I rarely laugh out loud while reading books, but this one had me rolling. And the comedy is a credit to the translator, Deathblade, as much as it is to the author Er Gen. It's difficult to make comedy land, especially in translation.
AWE is a must read for any xianxia fan. 5/5 Stars
The entire book series is well worth the read and shouldn't be missed.
Be prepared to laugh, cry, and go on an incredible journey with BXC in my favorite tale in the multi book series.
Just finished the first book that we have waited years to get, and can't wait to read them all again.
Thank you, DB!

There are connections with his other novels such as "I Shall Seal the Heavens", that can also be found on Amazon.
It tells the tale of Bai Xiaochun, an endearing but exasperating young man who is driven primarily by his fear of death and desire to live forever, but who deeply values friendship and family.
Compared to his other novels it is more comedic and light-hearted although it still contains plenty of action and drama.
Like all his novels the world and characters are well thought out with complexity and motivation that will draw you in and care about what happens which I always find to be the sign of a good story.
The novel is translated by Jeremy "Deathblade" Bai who is very skilled and cares about the work and works hard to produce a novel to a very high standard.
This version has been re-edited since its initial translation on WuxiaWorld.
If you like Progression Fantasy, give this a read as Xianxia was the genre that started it.
