Unprecedented story telling, superb soundtrack, exciting characters and intense, varied battles... Mass Effect 2 is a must-buy for any roleplaying gamer and already is one of this year's best games.
Mass Effect 2 far exceeded our expectations and is without question one of the best games we've played. Use whatever positive description you'd like. System seller, potential game of the year, landmark achievement; just make sure you buy it immediately.
Simply Epic.
Arguably the best Sci-Fi piece of fiction I've ever experienced, this game is an absolute rollercoaster, and I enjoyed every second.
A bigger and better sequel in practically every single way, Mass Effect 2 might be more linear than the first game, with less exploration and RPG mechanics, but the amount of content is doubled.
While the main story certaintly lacks direction, the loyalty missions and the characters carry the entire game.
The characters are definitely the strongest part of the game, every character feels fleshed out, has different abilities and weapons, and develops throughout the game.
The worldbuilding is unparalleled, so many additions to the lore, new races, more worlds and galaxies to see and explore, it's just insane.
Even the gameplay is great, the power-ups are very fun to use, and every character has their own unique power-ups, granted, the RPG elements are weak, this game feels like an Action Adventure Shooter more than an actual Role Playing Game.
Lastly, the ending is arguably the most iconic conclusion in the Sci-Fi genre, it physically and emotionally exhaust both the characters and the player, and since I managed to get the best ending possible, I haven't felt so satisfied playing a videogame in a very long time, what an outstanding piece of art.
Final Rating: "Excellent" ~ 9.5/10
mass effect 2 is an improvement to the ME1 formula in almost every way. ME1 has an edge with the pacing of the story but ME2 has depth, boldness in the story, beyond most 2020+ games's willingness to push the boundaries of storytelling. the gameplay loop is easier to understand, I do miss the variety of weapons and the importance of the leveling mechanic, but spending more time on missions actually shooting is very satisfying. the settings in the level design are very diverse and fun to explore. learning about each character through their loyalty missions was a highlight beyond the gameplay.
The story does waver when it matters most, and the planet-scanning and other hacking mini-games are quite the bore, but aside from that Mass Effect 2 is a game that doesn't seem to put a foot wrong. Riveting use of characters and your involvement in their stories really make this one you can't miss.
Overall, Mass Effect 2 is a title that everyone has to experience. As fun as the first title was it did have its own share of issues. It’s refreshing to see a development team take in all of the criticism from their previous title and use it to improve upon their concept for the sequel.
You won’t give much attention to the unintuitive HUD, and the low level cap won’t stop most from playing the game again with added difficulty or for multiple story options. You'll get frustrated, you'll ask yourself why, but you'll still love it. Facing the dark reality of Mass Effect 2 has its stumbles and slips, but it’s a trip worth taking, no matter the destination.
Players who can look past the lack of drive, annoying decisions, and a general stripped-down, dumbed-down feeling can (thankfully) still look forward to some truly spectacular moments and unforgettable action before credits roll.
Greatest RPG game in my opinion, the final Mission is arguably the best in all of gaming history, the characters are so well written it makes the whole game more immersive, can't wait for the new mass effect game.
PC keyboard setup is poorly designed, and the fact that you actually have to fly the ship to your destination, is both laughable and tragic, game's as good as the first one so far. But would be nice when porting a game to remember KISS keep it simple stupid when setting up the functions on a keyboard.
I'm giving this 1 point for those who worked so hard, what kind **** is this, you know it's a mobile game, aren't you ashamed, it's a shame to release such a game in 2024.
A disgrace to what could have been. I played through the first Mass Effect over two times, for about 80 hours. I couldn't wait to finally play Mass Effect 2 and see how the story would develop. What magnificent new encounters would await me. What did I get instead? Ambush after ambush like a cheap Gears of War clone. Largely stripped of the role playing elements that made ME1 such a great game, ME2 feels like what a husk from ME1 must feel like a soulless shell of what used to be.
SummaryThe Mass Effect trilogy is a science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life forms and mysterious uncharted planets. In this dark second chapter, Saren’s evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, who are still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an...
