GTA 5 cheats and codes can unlock all weapons, let you change your wanted level, and give you other kinds of other power-ups in the game like invincibility, flaming ammo, and super jump.

To use GTA 5 cheats on PlayStation (PS5, PS4, PS3) and Xbox (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360) enter the codes using your controller, or by dialling the numbers listed into your in-game cellphone. For PC, you can either use the cellphone or type the codes into the game’s console (bring that up with the tilde key ~). More info here.

Using any cheats in GTA 5 will disable Achievements and Trophies for the rest of your session, so always save your game before using them. To start earning rewards again you’ll need to reload your last save – you can’t just disable your cheats (by entering the same code again) and then carry on playing. The cheats also only work in GTA 5’s story mode.

Expanded & Enhanced Cheats

These additional cheats only work in newer versions of GTA 5 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC). Also, unlike all the other cheats above, you need to unlock each vehicle first by doing a random event, and only then can you spawn it with a phone cheat code.

  • Spawn Duke O’Death

    Finish the “Duel” random event to unlock it by stealing the Duke located around the gas station near Route 68, close to the LSC garage. Then get rid of the guys that chase you.

  • Spawn Kraken Sub

    Do the “Wildlife Photography Challenge” first to unlock it. You need to take pictures (using the Snapmatic) of all 20 different kinds of animals that exist in GTA 5.

    Complete the “Sea Plane” random event to unlock it by heading over to the area that is just to the East of the Alternate Farms (RON Winds). You’ll find a mountainside cove there and can begin the event.

  • Director Mode

    Your cell phone literally turns black. That is the only confirmed effect of this cheat.

How-to Enter GTA 5 Cheats

GTA 5 cheat codes are simple to activate once you know the steps:

  1. Save your game.
  2. Pick a cheat code from our list above.
  3. Enter the code during gameplay:
    1. PlayStation / Xbox: press the button combo using your controller.
    2. PC: Open the console (press the ~ key) and type the cheat code.
  4. Re-enter the same code again if you want to deactivate the cheat.

To use the cell phone method, bring out your phone, go to your contacts and press either SQUARE on PlayStation, X on Xbox, or SPACEBAR or MIDDLEMOUSEBUTTON on PC. The dialpad will popup. Then just enter in the number code for the cheat and press the same button again to dial/activate it.

How-to Disable GTA V Cheats

To disable or turn off a cheat that you have activated, simply enter the cheat code / button combo for it again. For cheats that have progressive effects (like the weather cheat or slow motion aim), you might need to enter the code again multiple times to cycle through all the different effects until you get to the one that disables the cheat.

Tips for Using GTA 5 cheats

  • Save your game progress before you before use any cheats and make sure you load that same saved game up when you are finished using cheats.
  • You can’t earn Achievements or Trophies if cheats have been active in your current session.
  • To earn Achievements or Trophies again, you need to load up your last “clean” saved game, the one you made before you started using cheats.
  • You can complete missions if you have used cheats in your current session, but as noted above, you will not be able to earn Trophies.
  • Several cheats, such as the invincibility cheat, will not work during missions. Instead, you will get the following message you when try and activate them: “Cheat denied: Not available on a mission or pastime.” Check the full list of cheats that won’t work in missions. If you start a mission with those cheats already active, they will be deactivated automatically.
    "Cheat denied: Not available on a mission or pastime."
    This is the message you’ll see if you try and activate a cheat like invincibility during a mission.
  • The above tips regarding cheats and missions apply equally to when you are doing pastimes as well.
  • If something isn’t spawning for you when you enter the cheat, try moving into a bigger space, so that it has more room to spawn. This also helps you avoid accidentally destroying the vehicle or getting it stuck in an inaccessible area.
  • Press the button combinations quickly. If you aren’t fast enough, the game won’t recognize the cheat code.
  • Make sure you’re in a safe location in the game (away from enemies and vehicle traffic) and have a clear understanding of the required button sequence before entering a cheat code.
  • Some cheats can be toggled on and off by entering the same code again, while others are one-time-use only. For example, the invincibility cheat only lasts for five minutes and you’ll need to re-enter the code once the effect wears off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you get a Lamborghini or tank using these cheats?

No, there is no Lamborghini car in the game, and there is no cheat code to spawn the Rhino tank (or the Invade or Persuade tank, which are available in GTA Online only).

Can you spawn a jet using GTA 5 cheats?

No, there is no cheat code to spawn a jet. The closest alternatives that you can spawn are the Dodo, Buzzard and Duster.

Who made these GTA 5 cheats?

These cheat codes were included in the single player mode of the game by Rockstar Games themselves, and are 100% legitimate. They will not get you banned or anything else.

I can’t spawn one of the special vehicles above, what am I doing wrong?

Double check that you have first unlocked the vehicle using the instructions in italics.

Why can’t I use my parachute after activating the Skyfall cheat code?

We don’t know why you can’t use your parachute (it’s a known issue in the game), but to survive the landing you should try to land head first into the ground or a wall.

Are these cheat codes considered hacks or glitches?

No, these cheats were added to the game by Rockstar themselves! GTA hacks, on the other hand, are malicious programs or apps that rarely work and are much more likely to drain your account and/or it get banned than anything else. We highly recommend that you avoid supposed “hacks” and anything of the sort.

Okay so I thought I would ask this here. I don't play on PS so I don't know the issue but my younger bro tries to get cheats going and says if he does one cheat, he can't do another. Don't they stack? At least for the most part? I never had an issue like this.

Some cheats get canceled out by others but a lot of them stack and you can have most of them going at the same time. Just consider which are being used. GTA SA had better cheats for this kind of stuff and allowed for more variety. Like one example is giving everyone a gun and putting chaos mode on.

This is what I loved about SA, the cheat codes were a blast! This was one of my favorite combos. GTA 5 has some good ones but they felt lack luster when you go back and play SA.

I don't know if anyone knows this here but in terms of stacking the same cheat, which ones can you do over and over again to increase or decrease the result? An example of one I know of is the slow-down aim cheat. You can stack this 4 times.

Anything that alters speed and distance I believe. I don't mess around with cheats all that often.

On a side note. I was trying to make it so you can disable the cops but the cheat doesn't seem to last or be permanent. I was just trying to mess with some different explosives but I wanted to make it so I wouldn't get a wanted level. I can only lower it but not actually "suspend" it. Am I overlooking the cheat or something?

There isn't a cheat to disable the cops. Just to remove wanted levels. And even if you keep doing it, it just ends up building back up which is annoying. Isn't there a "God mode" to prevent damage though?

Drunk mode with fast speeds always gives me a laugh. I don't think you can notice it as much in swimming but it is still a lot of fun when you want to just screw around with the cheats.

Is there a code for making it so cars can fly? I know the one variation of the car can fly. I can't remember what it is called but I mean standard cars and bikes that otherwise can't. Anything like this?

The supposed "god move" always felt weak to me. Putting it on a timer like that. It should be something you turn on and off like all other games that allow for such a cheat. Maybe they will change this for GTA 6.

LEAVEMEALONE was the best cheat back in Vice City. IDK why they didn't keep it in all GTA games moving forward.

In San Andreas there was, not in GTA 6. I checked! lol

I think we got some good ones but compared to other GTA titles, the cheat list just felt underwhelming overall. Or is that just me? Like for real, I played around with cheats in past games and has way more fun with it.

It isn't just you. There were a lot of cheats that should have been included. A lot of people speculated that they were originally part of the game but had a high chance of breaking/crashing the game so they removed them.

So I have to ask... When you dial " 199946844557 " into your phone, does it actually trigger a cheat code for getting money? I saw it a few times floating around online but when I did try it, nothing seemed to happen for me. You are meant to get a lot of money.

Supposedly, if you complete the story, you get a large sum of money. I never completed the game so never bothered with the cheat. If you didn't finish the game, it wouldn't work.
