#wearehere: Sightings of WW1 'soldiers' across the UK

Thousands of silent ‘ghost soldiers’ in WW1 uniform have been spotted across the UK in a moving tribute to the men who lost their lives in the Battle of the Somme. Handing out cards with the names of the fallen, they have been seen at train stations, high streets and thoroughfares, some bursting into spontaneous renditions of We’re Here Because We’re Here, the defiant song which would have been heard in the trenches 100 years ago. Pictures of the powerful scenes during this morning’s rush hour were uploaded to social media along with the hashtag #wearehere. Here are just a few of them - see more here.
